Boot/System drive?

I need to format the PC as it doesn't really seem to be going too well and I'm not in the mood for extensive troubleshooting.

I have 2x 150Gb Raptors set up in RAID with two partitions:
- 100GB for windows, apps, games, etc
- 200GB for music, data, games, backups - where I dump whatever files I could need

Advantage being if and when I format I could just format the 100GB, keep my files intact on the second one, and just start all over again.

Problem is when I put XP CD in the drive it calls my 100GB drive D: and my 200GB drive C: (when it is the other way round, windows exists on my C: drive currently) and obviously I want it the other way round.

I went into the admin tools and it seems to think my Windows partition is a (Boot) partition and the storage one is a (System) partition for some reason. Any ideas on how to switch that around, bearing in mind I can't format both partitions as that would mean no data...?
 
If you change the driver letter of your Windows HDD using 3rd Party APP (Windows wont let you), you will mess up Windows and need reinstall.

It runs too deep, inc File System and Registry, and there are many posts asking the same.

The drive letter I want to change isn't the Windows one though. The PC calls it a 'system' partition when Windows isn't actually installed on it!
 
Well I aint came across that as dont believe/need/like partitions (apart from Dual booting to beta test OS) as most apps I have need reinstalled anyhow.

I assume its same situ as its the same Physical HDD, you could try it but you could make a mess of things, I aint 100% on it but am 100% on it for the info in my OP.

I don't really know what to try though. At the moment in this install of windows the letters are in the correct order - System(C), Storing(D). However when I boot from the windows CD the letters are inversed (Storing(C) and System(D)) which means if I was to delete current Windows install and create a new partition I'd be asking Windows to install on a drive called D:, which is the thing I want to avoid...

Sorry if I am going a very roundabout way of explaining, but I'd really like to format but not if it means I'll be installing Windows to something which isn't C: :/
 
But it can't be a drive called C because Windows install thinks there already is a drive called C :(

The drives show up (wrongly) like this:
- STORING(C)
- SYSTEM(D)

Which means deleting current install is fine, replacing it is fine, but since there already is a volume called C I can't use that letter, unless you have a trick I don't know of :)
 
Changing the letters means I'd have to format the STORING drive as well? :(

I need to format the SYSTEM drive (great names I chose eh), but I absolutely cannot remove the STORING one...

EDIT: Does this mean anything to you?

Why does it call Storing (D:) a system drive when there has never been an OS installed on it before?

Is it dangerous to use partition magic to make my drive with windows the 'primary' drive? (currently shows up as 'logical')

Is it a dangerous thing to alter?
