Over the last few weeks i have noticed a dramatic decrease in my boot time. It was a fresh install about 1-2months ago i got a OcZ Vertex 3 SSD. Initially the boot was nearly instant.

This is what i found in my event viewer for the boot times currently compared to first boot. (Running Win 7 Spec in my sig)

Ive checked all my startup programs, services. Done several virus scans etc, uninstall some stuff i wasnt using but nothing helps!

Is it struggling to install Windows updates? My boot time got silly when my laptop couldn't install W7 SP1. There was no update notification, it didn't say installing updates but it'd take ages at the boot screen.

Just checked and the updates seem fine as well. :(
 
The only thing is my Gearbox software for my Line 6 UX2. Its an audio interface for recording but its updated with latest drivers and worked fine prior to the new SSD

The Duece is right, it is not just a matter of it reducing lifespan, it is about the differences between how classic drives and solid state drives store their data.
I would not be surprised if you have wrecked your drive from defragging it.

When installing an SSD, always do a Windows Experience Index test, this disables the use of certain features that are harmful to SSDs such as Defrag.
I just checked my defrag log, all my classic drives were last automatically defragged on the 13th of this month, my SS drive has never been defragged by Windows.
If it was not a problem, then why have Microsoft seen fit to prevent Windows from doing so to SS drives?.

Ive only defragged it this time because i was having issues with boot time. previous to this i havent dragged it at all
 
No worries :)

I was wondering, ive installed a few VST's for FL Studio recently, but that shouldnt effect windows boot time!
 
If you install the Intel RST drivers and have an optical drive on the controller, that can slow boot time. Try unplugging the drive or moving it to a non Intel controller and see if that helps.
 
Found the problem! I added a 2TB Seagate drive from work a few weeks back that i forgot about! It wasnt even showing up in my computer although under Disk Management it was there, but it said "Total Space 3.68GB" Which is pretty odd seen as its a 2TB drive. Il have to see what the crack is what that tomorrow at work as i have a SATA docking station.
