Boot up issues

Turned my PC on about an hour ago, and nothing appeared on the monitor.....

Changed the wire to MOBO graphics...still nothing, unplugged all my SSD's and HDDs apart from 1 HDD, screen came on and asked to boot from Cd/DVD ROM.

I then plugged everything back in and it booted up and got to "Loading Operating System" and its just sits there for ages, then eventually it starts windows.

My OS is installed on an SSD btw.

Why is this happening?

try unplugging the non boot drives and see if this changes the startup times

Ive just unplugged them all and left the SSD plugged in, and it didnt boot up, plugged them all back in, still didnt boot up.

Ive unplugged the power cable and plugged it back in, with one HDD unplugged, and the computer started up the fastest its ever done.............

WTF!?

Im confused

has it ever done this before or since you've added new hardware? mainly the crucial m500?

cant think why it would play up tho

Ive had to reinstall my OS twice onto this SSD due to it not loading things properly and running slowly

But now it seems to be running fine, the only thing unplugged is one of my HDDs

it could be interfering in some way

you have all intel sata ports on that board? or are some asmedia or marvell? could stick the hdd on those see if it stops the trouble

Did this happen out of nowhere Rob ?

I built a rig just last week and have been experiencing similar problems, even before I installed the OS. All the components seem to be working fine when turning the power on inside the case, but the monitor just stays black and there's no power going to the USB devices. I thought it was a SATA device causing issues so tried different combinations of leaving them plugged and unplugged, no difference. I then tried the ram, no difference. It seems to have a mind of it's own. Some days I'm lucky and it boots into the bios and OS, other times it doesn't. I'm guessing it's the mobo (MSI Z97 GAMING 3) but I haven't got a spare one to test out.

I had the exact same problem, and it was an msi gaming 5 z97. Swapped it out for a gigabyte and everything booted no probs!
