I'm getting problems when I attempt to boot up PC. The lights go on, the fans start and I get the short beep to acknowledge the power-on. However I start getting long beeps, then a short 2-second pause, then another long beep and so on. I've tried looking up the beep codes and resettng the BIOS but I'm still not getting anywhere. Any ideas?

IP35-Pro
Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz (BIOS reset back to 2.4Ghz)
4x1GB Ballistix RAM
8800GTX.

Thanks in advance.

Check all the Memory sticks and cards are seated in their slots fully. Is there an LED on the board that shows a 2 character code? if so what is it?

I'll try that when I go home for lunch.

Code never gets past "C1".

According to the table for C1

1. SPD value lost
2.graphic card error
3.DIMM slot damage
4. Over clocking issue

So best to check everything is seated correctly and possibly clear the CMOS using the jumper on the motherboard then resetting the bios up afterwards.

If it's three long beeps with a pause in the middle, it tends to be RAM that's at fault...

have you tried the RAM individually in each slot etc? if you get it working that way, see which slots work and which don't etc, and try Memtest on them if you can.

But you could check all connections as well, such as the Graphics card power etc.

Thanks guys, looks like I've actually got a couple of dodgy sticks, either that or one of the slots is crocked. Haven't got the time this week to look into in too much detail, just glad I can get back on now, even if only with 2GB and no overclock.
