Hey guys
I recieved my SSD today, and i've got it set up and working correctly :D
The only problem i now have, is that when i turn on my PC, and i get past the BIOS screen, the screen goes black with
"loading operating system"
or something similar to that for about 5-7 seconds.
This ofcourse, slows my boot time down which im not too happy about,
Im wondering how do i fix this?

Thanks,

Craig :D

I just changed the boot order around so that it is:
1) Hard Drive
2) Can't remember the name, but it was some letters+numbers.
3) Disabled

It's improved the time spent on the "loading operating system" but it still waits there for a couple of seconds.
It never used to do this with my old standard HD :s

(and there are no disks in my drive)
:D

Did u format in windows.. eg using the tool at the start of the windows 7 disk? That can mess up some ssd's. I think its called format cripple bug.

Nope, i've never used that.
Only thing ive formatted, is my 500gb HD by right clicking on the icon on "My Computer" then selecting format.

so... you have just connected the SSD, you haven't put any data on it or installed windows on it?

If that is right, there should be a BIOS option for selecting Hard Disk boot priority, you need to set the SSD lower than your other Hard Disk.

You are not using a SATA/IDE converter, are you?

I've got Windows + Games on the SSD.
Everything works correctly, it's just that this message after Bios keeps popping up, slowing down the boot times, which is what i bought the SSD for (also other reasons xD)

And i've put the Bios boot order so that it chooses 1) HD, then 2) a device which i believe is my SSD, its just numbers + letters in the bios.

And nope, just normal cables

well... if you installed windows on the SSD, you must have formatted it during the installation... you cannot use the drive unless it is formatted. If the SSD is your C: drive (the one you have windows installed on), then that is the one you want to boot from first.

Can you tell us the exact name of the second drive on your boot list? It is probably the DVD/CD drive, but I would like to be sure.

Exacly what wilko49 has said, windows would have formated the drive for you at the start. When it asks what partion you wish to install on.
i'm not sure if your ssd suffers from the bug, It might be worth googling, because if it does, you will need to wipe the drive and reinstall windows. But you will also need to find some kind of dos based programe to format it first. Or look to see if there is any new firmware.
I'm 90% sure this is your problem mate.
