Booting and POST issues

HI All,

I recently unpacked my PC from a year in storage, and I’m having some issues with it.

Upon connecting it all up it doesn’t boot, so I took it all apart and refitted all the parts. It started working, great I thought. However, after that first time of actually getting to boot, it seems every subsequent restart or boot doesn’t work first time.

It usually takes three goes to get it to book and do the POST. This involves me wiggling the connection between the monitor and the graphics card until the POST screen works.

I initially thought it was a graphics card problem, because of me wiggling the card, however, when I power on, the Num Lock on the keyboard does not light up, (which it usually does as soon as you power on.). So this makes me thing its something else that’s wrong.I should point out that the fans turn on and sounds like its doing something but no signal to the monitor, and it powers up for about 2 seconds, then restarts, then powers up again and stays on but no screen input and no keyboard lights.

I have to turn it off from the mains and then try and power it on 3 more times like this until it "usually" POST's.

At the moment I experience no crashes or any performance issues once its all booted up and logged on to windows. I used 3dmark last night to stress the card and CPU and there was nothing untoward.

I’m at a bit of a loss, and wondered whether anyone could offer any assistance?

My spec is:

Yeah thanks guys, I just rebuiltit and seems to work first time i boot it up.
Cleaned it all, as there was lots of dust in side, and seems to be ok now. Touch wood, so I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Rebooted about 6 times now and boots first time.

Hopefully that will be it.
