Chose safe mode on a laptop I'm sorting (Windows 10), but want to get back to booting in normal mode. Only thing is she cannot remember her password, which as far as I can tell, is needed to do just that by every method I've read of (she normally uses her pin number, which she does know). Is there a way around the password issue?

thanks.

If it's a Microsoft account, go through the usual recover password stuff on outlook.com

If it's a local account, then use the sethc truck to get a command prompt up and reset the password that way.

Found out since there was nothing worth keeping so just wiped/reset it. @UnworthyBean There was no option to enter the pin number instead (read on MS site you have to use password when attempting safe mode). @ PiKe Was actually a local account but I'll make a note of the seth trick. I had tried to get a command prompt through the recovery options (there's a command line to delete the safe mode switch) but it still wanted the user pass first (grrrr)

thanks fellas.

You have to boot of the install media or into a Windows PE like Macrium.
