Have just turned on my fiancee's pc to be greeted by a post error code 5.0., i removed everything that was usb and it booted fine.

I put the case back on and stood the pc upright and it now does not boot at all and the video doesnt initialize.

It is giving me an error code of 8.0. which in mt mobo handbook reads:

Complete UGuru Initial Process
AWARD BIOS take over booting job

The mobo is an Abit AN8 Fatal1ty

Please help, i've googled gallore but have found no help!

Dont know what ver of bios is running, don't think it was ever flashed anyway.

i removed the cmos pin from 1/2 to 2/3 for a minute and then powered on but its still the same. should i remove the battery?

Have just removed battery and still no luck.

i have removed the mobo from the case so it isnt shorting on anything either.

Tried new memory, new leads and hdd's.

What are the chances that this is the cpu that has died?

All sources on the internet including abits forums suggest that the bios is buggered as thats what error code 9.0. is.
