Booting USB Hard Drive

Hi I recently bought a Western Digital Essential 80GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive from OcUK and was wondering if it will boot up like my Seagate SATA Internal does? What I mean is, I want to unplug or disable my Internal HD from CMOS and just plug in the External instead because I want to mess around with Linux, BSD, Vista and what not.

I know it pretty much depends on the BIOS support, can anyone shed some light on their own experiences? Im using an AMD64 3000+ Venice with MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum, and I have flashed the BIOS to V1.B (latest).

Not certain on that mobo but on the DFI nf4's Yes would be the answer
just somewhat slower, hopefully someone with the same board will confirm
