Ello, trying to help a friend of mine, he has a build that is almost a month old - I believe he corrupted his BIOS.

He updated his BIOS update via the Gigabyte software, sadly during his PC decided to restart - he received one message saying it's corrupted and to restore to a date in which it worked.

Sadly this did not work and now it just bootloops and turns off and on constantly.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte ga-z97x-sli rev 1.0.

I've attempted to get to the BIOS and to even use the Q-FLash thing to put a new bios update on but it just wont let me.

Any help would be appreciated as he doesn't wish to send it back!

Thank ya

you have backup bios switch on that board? if so flick it to other position boot into bios flick switch back again while pc is on and in bios and reflash the bios to recover main bios chip

if you dotn have a switch turn on pc with front case power button and as soon as you hear fans spin switch off at rear of psu,do this as fast as possible two or three times then let pc boot up,you should see a msg saying recovering main bios

With Gigabyte boards there is not usually a switch.

Where you would normally press the DEL key to get into the BIOS if you press

ALT+F10 this copies the backup bios to the main bios
ALT+F12 this copies the main bios to the backup bios

If you think its your main bios thats corrupt try the ALT+F10 method. You may have to do it a few times or even keep doing it after switching on.
Normally if successful you see a message saying copying bios or it sometimes just POST's.

Does the Z97X have onboard LED display code ?
