Hello there,

Borderlands 2 is nigh and the hunt for the vault begins once more. I must admit I didn't expect much from borderlands 1, it seemed to promise a lot but I was sceptical, anyway a few of my friends got it so i decided to join them buying it on release day. For the next month my attendance to social events dropped by about 90%. I was instantly hooked on the game, it delivered all the promises it made and more. the game was funny with a great (although cliché) storyline. The most important part was that it was fun to play. It was so different from any other game and is by far the most fun I have ever had in any game.

So onto borderlands 2. New characters, even more guns and a new storyline. I cannot wait.

I am intrigued to find out what others thought of Borderlands and if any of you are as exited as me. I desperately want the game to do well, they put real effort into the games and i really want them to succeed with borderlands 2.

anyway I would love to hear your thoughts on the game such as which characters you intend to play, features you want to see etc.

Thanks,

Doombar

Borderlands was over-hyped and disappointing. Too short with zero replay value and the biggest let down ending of any game I have ever played.

A true "Wait, that's it?" moment.

It was broken on PC, lacked FOV adjustment and required endless amounts of config tweaking to get into a playable state. Texture pop-in was borderline ridiculous.

GameSpy integration and MANDATORY account ownership to play online was the most frustrating online Identity system I have ever had the misfortune of using. All that for chars to be stored locally and ENTIRELY trainable/hackable with Tools anyway. Despite your supposed online identity Game Save/Char profiles corrupting were a regular occurrence and required you to do manual back-ups.

The randomisation of weapons was stupid and mis-sold. The vast array of stats led to nothing but confusion and the impossible task of comparing weapons with a view to seeing what was an upgrade.

Using the console developer commands some weapons with supposed accuracy upgrades through scopes were actually less accurate while being scoped.

Certain Skill tree combos were over-powered and trivialised content. If you did not cheat with a Char Trainer you could just load save > loot chests > find good items > repeat endlessly anyway.

A waste of money on a game that was only bearable because I was playing it with 3 other mates.

Just about sums up my thoughts of Borderlands.

I will not be buying 2.

i will admit the game did have its flaws and had fairly predictable storyline, but looking past these flaws i thought its over qualities shined through, i thought the DLC was worthwhile especially "the secret armoury", the cheating and hacking was a bit ridiculous aswell but i thought it added some fun to the game like when a friend would come in with some heavily modded rocket launcher which would lower your fps to about 1 frame a second but it was all part of the fun, Just out of interest what games are you currently playing/looking forward to? :)

That's the most viral marketing-esque post I've seen in a while :p

Looking forward to it though thanks to all the wub wub that's been promised!

Completely agree with this tbh!

I will not be buying 2.

Apart from that bit :p

The main game was ok. Some of the DLC was superb though. General Knoxx is amazing value for money, and completely fixed the lackluster final boss.

is anyone thinking of pre-ordering? I think you get some extra gearbox guns straight away which gives you a bit of a head start

I think for most of us replay value means non repetition, being able to play the same game again with very different experiences.

Everytime I start up borderlands with different people it's the same old slog and on rails game play, yes, rails.. those same quests in the same order, over and over and over and over. That same first boss with the same two damned dogs and the same "ooh look a billionzillion guns randomisation" pinky pistol or whatever it's called.

Recently took it up last week from scratch and because I wanted to prove a point, afte the first day of gaming, 6 hours of play time and not a single upgraded weapon with a game that touts that amount of guns you'd expect to see more. Now, upgrades/unlocks/items keep people playing but the only thing I did in that time was level up a few times and make my guns fire 2/4/6% faster, that's pretty boring.

I'll admit, it worked for Diablo 1/2 (but it's had completely different classes, not 4 that all use the same guns, armour, and proper random drops) but those were an almost first of a kind for me and over 15? years ago. Today that's not going to cut it for me, I can understand that if borderlands was one of my first games of the genre I'd probably be hooked.

I heard good things about the DLC, but so did I about the main game, problem is nothing in the main game sold me on wanting to play it more.

If they make a lot of changes in 2 it could be a lot more fun for me, but I'm not buying it on release and will wait for reviews/vids and the inevitable deal that'll let me grab everything for under a tenner, or something. To be honest I haven't read much about 2 but it's a game I could see being improved with maybe more story, if not an equipment/armour system instead of just pure guns, more vehicles, eh... /reads.

That 141 hours is only two plays through for me, and a lot of crawmerax runs. I've only played each mission twice for myself for the most part, play-through 1, then play-through 2. (probably helped mates beat certain parts at times).

I'll admit, that general Knoxx is the best part of the game even though it's DLC, that's not great, and it doesn't really get going until play-through 2 if you want a challenge. It's not perfect to have it that way, I'm sure many people get put off before then, but once you get that far, it's an awesome game.

Not sure if you're exaggerating or not.. at the early stages of the game you should be tripping over new weapons that offer benefits to what you're using.

It sounds like it's just not your kind of game, from what you're saying. :o

Already pre-ordered. :) Got it for £22 online through Asda with a code.
