Borderlands? whats it all about? is there a point to all of this?

thanks guys, maybe i'll just dip in and out of it, but start something new. I need something to play when COD is doing my head in... which is quite often these days, or maybe i'll just play black mesa, HL2 + episodes again :D

My favourite series of all time I reckon. Even the Tiny Tina spin off is a fantastic adventure. Don’t play for the story but purely for the orange gear drops. That’s what keeps me hooked. :D

@LostCorpse kindly gifted me BL1. I initially thought it was very easy and basic. And then I hit my first boss and rage quit thinking it was impossible. Later after being more strategic with weapon choices and leveling up I managed to beat him. The difficulty ramped up then, which was fine.

My major problem was I saw an amazing gun, which I only had 4 minutes to buy. So I sold all my guns bar 1 and my shield to eventually get the amazing gun. Yet, I can't use the gun because it says you have to be Level 10 and I'm Level 9. Levelling up doesn't seem easy without a long range weapon or a shield. Sigh, a little unfair, I couldn't see any warning I couldn't use it. I imagine I'll have to grind a bit to get another decent accurate long range weapon, and I'll be good.

You might want to try Metro series, Prey, Bioshock, Dishonored, Fallout, Dead Space, Stalker....

Also going back to Doom 1 and 2 is always great, as are the Quake games. Those games are just way more fun than most modern games

Playing Borderlands you will be constantly leveling up and upgrading shields and weapons. So don't get too attached to anything, as most stuff will become useless within a few levels. :D

I got in the habit of not bothering with looking at the stats for white or green weapons at all and just sold them asap.

If you're struggling to progress there should be plenty of character build guides online. Generally you want to find a play style that works for you combined with the right weapons and shield type. It can make a big difference compared to randomly progressing a skill tree.

Borderlands 2 has some very engaging characters. The plot may not be much but the characters are another matter. Jack is THE villain you love to hate, for example.

And it will get you when you realise the true plot of the Tiny Tina DLC.

So Borderlands has a lot of fans, so i thought id check it out.

i'm nearly 20 hours into this now, and ive only really learned that there might be a vault, or some treasure, or something. and that everyone is a loony.

What are the high speed travel things for? I start a challenge or whatever and i just follow the arrow/waypoint thing, but i dont know "where" that is, so i cant use the speed travel thing, as i dont know what area i need to travel to.

I feel like ive missed the point of the game somehow.

Ive kind of been enjoying it up until now, but ive just quit a mission as i got the hump with it as there is never ending travel and i keep dying, the guns are ****, he can jump really high, and really slowly, but not onto anything useful, or over anything useful.

WTF?

I just want a game thats not irritating to play

Hi mate, if your 20 hours in I think you should be onto better weapons. Unless you are just getting killed too much early on. Or maybe you haven't figured out how to switch out your weapons. I didn't figure this out for the first few hours. But as soon as you do you see a massive difference in the cause and effect of your weapons. You need to go into your inventory using TAB look at all your guns and decide which have the best stats and then sub them in over the weaker stock guns.

I currently have snipers that set enemies on fire, rocket launchers that blow people up and very accurate machine guns. Steam says I'm at 14 hours but realistically it's probably 9-10 hours.

But you do need to make sure you're always looking to upgrade your weapons, either through acquisition or buying them. You need to compare all ratings of your guns and choose the best.

I've found part of the games satisfaction is overcoming and overwhelming enemies through upgrading your weapons.

Best of look, I do think it's a really fun game
