I have a work laptop which has DP out, on Intel HD 620 graphics. My monitor has HDMI in (it also has DP 1.4 but that is being used by my desktop PC).

I am using a DP to HDMI cable. I can only use resolutions up to 1080p. Does anyone know a way around this?

Try Windows key and 'P' and choose extend. Then you 'should' be able to see your monitor and can select the resolution. Can be fiddly and you may have to manually change between input instead of auto on the monitor.

Intel HD 620 does support resolutions up to 4k as I am using my work laptop with the same chipset and via DP to HDMI.

Drop the Hz down to 29 or 30 and apply and see if you can now see the resolution to 1440p.
