So, the other day my pc froze and when I restarted Windows would not boot past the logo screen (would just hang). So I decided to format and start over, so noticed the Windows 8 preview was out last night and decided to try that out.

This installed fine but for some reason Windows 8 was not compatible with my sata drivers so I decided to reinstall Windows 7. I installed this, went to restart into windows and my vertex 2e was detected in the bios but kept getting stuck on the sata detection post (I had to keep resetting the pc to get it to go past this point). Everntually I got into Windows, restarted and now the drive is not detected at post.

I'm guessing it's pretty screwed up and the net seems to suggest leaving it unplugged for 24hrs and trying again, but I don't believe for a second that will work!

Any ideas? :( (I've since reinstalled windows using a spare HDD and it's working fine, so it's definitely a SSD issue rather than the motherboard!)

Also, just a thought, but as this was purchased from (oooo better remove that!) in 2010 - and "I think" OCZ give a 3 year warranty.... should I RMA via the retailer or OCZ?

My SSD died last week, a Vertex 2e, after 13 months of use. Shut down before I went to bed then when I turned it on the next day it wouldn't boot, the computer auto ran chkdsk but that kept hanging at around 9% with an error.

I bought a standard HDD to replace it and I do miss my short boot times but I prefer to spend money on my motorbike instead of the computer nowadays.

I'll try another SSD eventually but a bit disappointed at how long it lasted.
