Anyone have a Tassimo? If so where do you get your t-disks from? I've just bought a T65 as it was on offer with £60 off.

Looking forward to a nice coffee before work in the mornings.

I've had a T65 since Xmas 2010, it's great. I usually get my discs from work as I get a discount, but Tesco and Morrisons tend to have a decent range too. Tesco seems to be the only place to get the milk/creamer discs.

If you register your machine on the Tassimo UK website you should be emailed a code that gives you £20 to spend on their website. They do have a rather high minimum spend value on there (and then an even higher 'free delivery' one) but they do have the full range so it's quite easy to find stuff you'll like. The only discs they don't seem to have on their at the moment are the Costa ones, but they're in supermarkets anyway.

Don't forget to use the green cleaning disc every so often (it's usually hidden in the back behind the water tank), and get some 'Bosch Decalcifying Tablets for Coffee Machines and Kettles' at some point; the machine will tell you when it needs de calcifying.

OOOH! I have wonted one of these funcky coffee machines for ages

Where did you get it from ruffneck? Also is the Tassimo the best one out there? Value for money and costs for the disks etc etc?

Are these expensive to run if you just want one coffee in the morning?

If you're using it every day then potentially yes. It's about £3.80-£4.50 for a pack of 16 discs for the Tassimo, for some varieties that means 16 coffee discs, for others that's 8 coffee discs and 8 milk discs (so 8 drinks in total).

The Dolce Gusto seems to be slightly cheaper in that respect, and the Senseo is cheaper still, but in my personal opinion the Tassimo is the best of the three and offers the best selection. I only use mine a few times a week though so I don't mind the cost of it.

I had two different Tassimo machines and both went wrong. I've also used a Dolce Gusto machine.

Personally I think Nespresso is way ahead of all of them if you want a decent coffee, its about as close as you can get to a freshly ground espresso without actually doing so. The downside is that Nespresso capsules are the most expensive and are only available from their outlets and online. They also only do coffee, where as the other manufacturers tend to do teas and various coffee drinks using UHT milk.

I used to use a proper coffee machine, but found that because of having to warm it up, tamper the coffee, make the drink and clean it all up afterwards that I was only using it really on weekends. Using one of these machines, I can get a decent coffee quickly with no mess every morning.

I was referring more to the running costs of the actual machines themselves.

A work colleague's partner got a Nespresso Machine for his birthday, it seems quite nice and well built.

If you consider the cost of the capsules against the cost of getting a coffee from Costa/Starbucks then they do work out to be acceptable value for money.

I can't say as it may be deemed a competitor, but think the jungle shop, also the high street chain that's a popular indian food has them at the same price.

:D

Someone posted a site that made refillable filters for these, looked awesome as
a) cheaper
B) not limited to their blends

Can't remember what the site was though.

I have a Nespresso at home for when I'm in a rush in the mornings and one at work (clean and convenient) but it doesn't come close to pulling a good shot from my Gaggia with good freshly ground beans from Hasbean. You can easily tell the beans have been roasted a fair while ago, although Nespresso capsules are sealed they still loose quality. At 8g the capsules also are a bit short on the grinds front resulting in some noticeable over extraction.

Still I'd take Nespresso over any other capsule system, miles ahead of the others, having tried a Tassimo several times (our sales team have one) I would take Starbucks Via over it!

I disagree, it makes a great cup of coffee.
I have coffee from one of these every time I go round a particular mates house (about once a week). It's never anywhere near as good coffee made with fresh ground espresso.
Better than instant, nowhere near the money it costs though.

I'm a bit funny with my coffee.. I like it when I make it at home but I hate coffee shop coffee. I can't stand the bitterness of it (and I've tried heaps of places because my partner loves coffee shop coffee!). I got a tassimo machine because they do hot chocolates as well which are great and I like the sweeter coffees like the caramel macchiato, they aren't too bitter for me, but I'm sure the coffee snobs wouldn't even call it coffee.. But it tastes great to me!

I've just purchased one of these for myself, I got the T20 for £60 at Argos.

I enjoy coffee and I enjoy convenience.

Nobody's claiming that it does. If you're a massive coffee fan than it stands to reason you're going to want to do it the proper way, the Tassimo (and the machines like it) are for people who want a step-up from instant coffee etc, as well as the ability to have a wide variety of drinks.
