Girlfriend bought these speakers for me and they are utterly awful. Something just does not sound right with them. I am sending them back and getting a refund. She spend around £200 for them and so looking to get some for around that or less.

Can anyone reccomend some PC speakers in that price range which are suitable. I will mainly be listening to MP3's.

I have heard the Klipsch are great but wanted to know what people on here reccomend.

Many Thanks.

I have Bose Companion III and I think they sound superb!!!

Maybe its down to your soundcard - sh1te in = sh1te out!!!!

Nope soundcard is fine. The speakers have absolutely no midrange whatsoever and sound as poor as the £5.99 speakers my sister bought from bargain world for her PC.

Odd, my experiance of that brand has always been:

"No high or low, it must be Bose" : )

Acoustic Energies £80 AEGO are quite nice a nice little 2.1 PC speaker system. Klipsch are also quite good for the money, although I believe they are quite hard to get hold of outside the USA?

See if you can pick up some active studio monitors on ebay, for £200 near enough any brand will tear apart "PC speakers".

Sounds like you recognize bad sound, well done. Glad you didn't keep them.
£200 will get you Hi-Fi kit, £150 for NAD 320 amp, £50 for second hand Hi-Fi, should be able to get something for that.

My soundcard is an onboard jobby its a RealTek AC'97 and has always been fine with my other speakers.

So far the AEGO's are looking the best. I have actually heard these speakers before and they sound amazing. However I am open to suggestions about upgrading the PC speakers set up for an amp and speakers if its not going to be more than £200.

Will I need a new soundcard?

Why not spend the £80 or so on the AEGO's and treat yourself to a new soundcard with the rest of the money? :)

I disagree about B&O at least with the equipment I have experienced.

My Parents used to have an old Beocenter so I know what their products were like from the mid-70's and they have continued to upgrade over the years.

Current system is a pair of Beolab 6000 with a Beosound 3200 and I have to say I'm always blown away by how good it sounds. I'm not a huge fan of the Form 2 headphones but not because of their sound quality, I just prefer full ear-cover style headphones for their purpose. I have a pair of A8 in-ear phones which I'm very happy with.

Lol I shouldn't be surprised by this but I never knew that they did headphones! They never really advertise anything else apart from their other equipment.

*goes off looking..*

They have just released a whole new range of stuff. A new Mobile phone which looks rather impressive and a new MP3 Player with a screen (so you can see what's playing, unlike the iPod shuffle like Beosound2) which is stunning but with a $700 price tag it's slightly out of my financial limits at the minute :o

Wouldn't even use BOSE equipment to play music to a deaf person. B&O sell overpriced tat too.

Klipsch and the aego's are my choice of others !
