Evening all!

Well having some problems with my new PS3 Slim. One controller was working fine yesterday morning wirelessly and told me it had a low battery so I connected it using USB.

When I tried using the controller today it would only work plugged in. I left it on charging for a few hours and it still wouldn't work when I unplugged it. The 4 red lights just all flash.

So I tried my other controller and its exactly the same. They will both turn the console on but then it says 'Press PS button' and still nothing!! They just flash!

Could someone please help me with this! I've only had it a couple of months!

Thanx in advance!

I had an issue with last update with my BT controllers (all of them) i just unplugged the PS3 and left it for a while. I used the little reset button on the DS3s and they all started to work fine.

Have any of you tried resetting the controller? There is a small button on the front near the L2 button which you could push using a straightened paper clip.

Been happening to me too, easy enough to fix (found on the interwebs):

-PS3 system is ON
-plug in USB cable into PS3 system
-plug USB cable into controller
-press PS button until it connects
-reset controller (its still plugged in on USB) (reset is on back of controller, tiny whole)
-remove USB cable from controller
-press PS button until it connects

Happened a couple of times on my parents' slim after I upgraded it to the 3.10 firmware - both the pad and the remote. Had to resync both manually...

My phat is fine though, so I wonder what they borked :p

I had the same problem , and what i did was disconnect the power lead to my ps3 plugged it back in after a few mins then usb both pads up .
They started working and i have had the same problem since and i do it again and the pads re sync again its strange hope its not my new ps3 only had it a few months but like people have said it could be down to firmware

Happend to me too. To get round it I have to spam x super fast as it's loading up, so it recognises the controller. Thought it was only me!

Gonna try that google fix later.

from what i have read it to do with the latest update causing this issue, i just turn the console off and back on and it fixes it :D

tried this but get stuck on the 3rd point 'press PS button until it connects'? mine just fails to connect and continues to flash..

only way i've got around it is to just switch the console off and back on again.. :/

^Your controller is connected to the ps3 via the usb lead and it still doesn't connect?

Just had the controller problem with my brother's ps3 bought a few days ago after installing the new firmware this evening.

I had this problem twice in the last week (once with each of my DS3 controllers). Pressed the PS button on the controllers to turn on my PS3, and it turned on the PS3 but did not sync the controller.

Both times, the fix in this thread did not work. The flashing lights just persisted, and I definitely followed the instructions to the letter.

To fix it, I just turned my PS3 off from the normal button, next time I turned it on (with the PS button on the controller) it synced fine.

I normally charge my controllers battery through USB on my netbook/macbook. I have no idea if this was in some way related, but both times it did happen after I had charged the controllers.

Anyone know if this is getting fixed or is even acknowledged by Sony, yet?

Yeah, this has happened multiple times since I last posted... getting quite annoyed with it. I would make a post over at the official PS forums, but I'm too lazy :D

Also, this is only happening on my parents' slim, and not my own phat, so :p
