I'm sure i'm doing sumat wrong.

Currently playin around with ocing my E2140 but i'm stuck at FSB:360x8

I've gradually raised the vcore as high as 1.5v but cannot get passed FSB:360 Really wana get to 3ghz. every thing is at stock apart from v-ramm which is +0.4v to 2.2v and pci frequency which is 100mhz. Have i just hit a wall with this chip.

It would be a shame to not get to 3ghz, I meen currently i've only got about a 75% increase from stock ratings lol

This is on a GA-P35C-DS3R with Ballistix 5300 5-5-5-15 ratio 1:1 and a tunic tower.

might be an fsb wall at around 360 or might be a poor clocking cpu

have tried lowering the multiplier to 6 and push the fsb higher?

ballistix 5300 3,3,3,8s will scale easily to 1000+

ive had mine @ 5,5,5,5 @ 600mhz (1200mhz), 2.35v though

ah right, i thought you had to split the rated number by half (5300@667=333 etc) my bad

cheers for that guys

I'll try the lower multiplier later.

I did originally think it was the ram holding me back as aparently these chips can ease past 3ghz, but I actually had mine at 3-3-3-8 @ 1066mhz with 2.2.v when I was at 333mhz x8 and it was stable in Orthos for 12 hours.

Probably just got a "poor clocking cpu". Kinda makes me laugh really calling a cpu that clocks to 75% of it's stock rating a poor clocker  . Still I'm happy twas only a stop gap until Quad core has another price cut, hopefully to around 100. Here's to dreaming. :D

Try a FSB 'jump'. The straps on Intel boards cause weird things to happen at the edge of a strap. This can mean that 360 won't work, but 370 will.

CPU VTT 1.2v should be increased.
ICH voltage should be increased
MCH voltage should be increased
I/O voltage should be increased

Have you tried increasing the chipset voltage a notch?

I left this as stock, basically these are my bios settings for 8x360.

DDR2/DDR3 Overvoltage control +0.4v to 2.2v
PCI-E Overvoltage Control AUTO
FSB Overvoltage Control AUTO
(G)MCH Overvoltage Control AUTO
CPU Voltage Control AUTO
Normal PU Vcore 1.375v

Which would you recommend me changing.

Also as you've probably gathered this is my first Overclock lol :D
