Bottleneck or Benchmark?

Again, no. You may wish to actually read the thread.

*sigh* I suppose some people just enjoy being provocative?

As you well know, the closest thing to relevance that you said was "i'd recommend getting a q9400 similar and oc'n to 3.6.". You made no statement about comparing the performance of dual- and quad-core CPUs clock-for-clock, which was the comment made by aqon to which you simply replied "no". And even if you had made such a statement, it would still be no excuse for being so dismissive of the statement made by aqon.

Now can you please drop this, and either attempt to help out M0T or just leave the thread? Either way I'm done with this matter.

M0T; as Marine suggested, you might want to run at the default settings in order to get a better comparison with existing results for the 470. Also, did you get a chance to grab GPU-z and check that the card is definitely recognised as a GTX470 at the correct clocks?

actually its been tested that FFXIV actually utilizes a quad and with it being mostly CPU dependant however there is GPU dependant stuff as well a core 2 duo will slightly lack in the game however a really high overclock might just see a dual core ok.

Exactly. That would be OT and would most likely lead to a debate unrelated to the OP's problem.

What I did do was suggest a reasonable way for the OP to resolve his issue. Get a quad that fits his existing platform and try to get a reasonable overclock out of it.

The whole topic got derailed when someone else suggested that higher clocked dualie would be a better solution - which, is this particular case it is not (an opinion that I concisely convey via the now infamous "no").

Right - Final Benchies:

FFXIV - 2927, my slowdown occurs when the task manager shows 100% cpu usage. Clearly the bottleneck here is processor related.

unigine heaven - 32.2fps and 860 points. 1680x1050 16AF 8AA tesselation normal. I have no idea on this one.

I have to agree. I just re-ran the FFXIV bench on low again, got around 3400 again. I have kept my eye on the CPU usage throughout the bench, the the CPU usage go from as low as 34% up to as high as 72% on my Q6600 (Quad) at 3.0GHz. So I guess any scenes which my Q6600 usage go beyond 50% usage would be pretty much be 100% (and beyond) for your dual-core...and I can tell you that, majority of the time during the bench my CPU usage was between 50%~58%, and I would suspect the scenes which my CPU usage go up to 68%~72% would be where your bench is performing the worst.
