Im gaming on 1680x1050 Resolution, here are my specs

GTX460 768mb (OC'd to 850MHZ|1700|1900
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition 3.2ghz (OC'd to 3.5)
4GB G.Skill Ripjaw ram.

And Im getting lower FPS than I should in some games, according to the reviews, such as Far Cry 2 and CoD:WaW

Is my CPU bottlenecking ?

Far Cry 2 is a game that does make use of quad cores, so I would expect the reviews to show higher FPS in that game than you are getting as they usually use a quad core (often i7) in the review. However, I imagine your framerates are still very good. May I ask what graphics settings you are using?

As for WaW, how much slower are you than the reviews? Your hardware should munch through that game @1680x1050 - I'd expect you get 100FPS+. What level do you have AA and AF set to?

Did you try increasing the volts to your CPU when you tried unlocking it? It may still be possible to get that chip running as a quad core if you are willing to give it another go.

What motherboard you got? Most AM3 board with SouthBridge 710 or later should have unlock extra core(s) features in bios. Have you tried to unlock extra cores on your 555BE? :p

Even if you only managed to unlock 1 working core instead of 2, it will still help greatly.

No worries, we all start somewhere :)

I would suggest you have a good read through this guide and unlock the cores via the BIOS. It tells you which voltages to increase and to what level.

It is possible that the other two cores do work, but the unlock method you used left the voltages at stock (ie good enough for a dual core, not enough for a quad core) level, so when the CPU is stressed (loading windows) it folds. Doing it all via the BIOS helps eliminate this problem. Hopefully this is the issue- not a damaged core.

Best of luck

Yea, the BIOS often makes up a new name for the CPU after unlocking, I wouldn't worry about that.

I just downloaded the manual and the option you are looking for is "CPU Over Voltage" (in Advanced>jumperfree configuration). Increase this by a small increment and then test the system - rinse and repeat untill it is stable or the CPU gets temp close to 70 degrees. Also, stop when it shows 1.4V in CPUz.
