Bottlenecked - Q6600?

Might be a stupid question...but have you increased the fan speed of the cooler to max (2000rpm) when under load? If that's too loud, you could consider replacing the default fan with a better fan that deliver higher airflow/static pressure at a lower fanspeed.

Also considering your case being Antec 900, it might be better to have the cooler blowing toward the top and use the case's top exhaust instead of rear.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea, will change the direction of the Tuniq and see if that helps.

Hi All

Another in the same situation. Have a OC prebuilt (couldn't be bothered to build at the time) with q6600 @ 3.3Ghz, 4Gb DDR2 and 5770 1GB.

Read some threads and it seems like I wouldn't gain a massive amount from cpu upgrade. With BF3 on preorder would a gpu make a big difference? Looking at the latest I could probably get a 6870 or some variation.

Cheers,
Cheesy.

I went from a 5770 to a 6870 and it was a good leap in performance.

Thanks, very helpful to see what settings you're using. 1.52v to get to 3.6 sounds a bit much for me to be putting through the Q6600. I dont have the cooling for that voltage nor the balls :D

Others seem to be able to hit 3.6 xstable at 1.46v on the same board.

Marine??

1.52v might sound a lot, but bear in mind I have C1E and EIST, aka Speedstep enabled, so it rarely has to use full voltage, and when it does, the Vdroop keeps it no higher than 1.42v anyway, which is absolutely fine.

Oh and as for cooling, yes I have a TRUE, but I run a Noctua NF-P12 on it at 600-700RPM at most times :)
