Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my rig for as little as possible to keep me going until nehalem, i currently have the system below:

skt939 4400x2 at stock
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-D
2gb G.Skill PC 4000 DDR
7800GT 256MB in SLi

Is it worth upgrading the graphics card to a 8800gt/3870 or would i be bottlenecked by the processor and DDR (resolution is 1280x1024)?

Secondly, does anyone have step by step guide on how to overclock using this board and what OC i could realistically hope to achieve on air? FSB and multipliers on intel rigs i can understand.. but HT frequency and HT multipliers seem to have me stumped.

Thanks

personally i think your cpu should be ok, what i would do.. as you say its "at stock" is overclock the living hell out of it. Also see if you can sell your 7800GT cards for best price possible and weigh up getting a 8800GT accordly. i reckon a good Overclock and a 8800GT youll be plenty for when nehalem arrives. I have no experience overclocking amd so i cant help you there.

maybe some AMD user can help.... :)

So you want to OC what you got or buy new cheap rig / parts ?

If the 1st then you will have to look at Overclocking part of forums, if the second, give me the budget and your current whole spec ( psu, case, monitor, everything), what u gonna use it for then we might think about something :).

But on the OC part, I don't think you gonna squeeze out much out of this system and buying new great GPU will be a waste since CPU/ram will be bottlenecking it anyways even if OCed.
