Bought an Ultima Demolisher. I can't play any games on it.

Sure that would help.

Sorry to keep asking this but have you installed the latest Nvidia drivers, from the website? The way you have worded it suggests you installed the drivers off the discs provided.

Yeah I've downloaded the latest drivers from the website, re-installed them twice.

Here's the result of running dxdiag.

There's more but since I don't know how to work on this forum I cut off everything but the main part.

I can also tell you I went through a good half hour game of Black Ops on highest settings without a problem so at a guess I would say it's most probably a software problem rather than a hardware one, though I'm by no means anywhere near your level of knowledge on this.

Reading through that now but something that struck me instantly was the CPU clock.

Should be at 4GHZ, not its stock.

Unless DX Diag reads intel differently to AMD.

It may do, as I have a program called EVGA E-LEET tuning utility which came with my computer. This reads the cores as being overclocked to 4GHZ.

This issue sounds beyond me, hopefully someone with far more knowledge will drop by soon.

Personally, its painful but I would just get some sleep and give OCUK a call in the morning.

I know that's not what you want to hear just after setting up your new super computer!

FNV is pretty crash prone.

Difficult to say. Win 7 isn't great at telling you what went wrong.

- Looking at Device Manager, and checking for conflicts (yellow question marks) / missing drivers / legacy drivers.
- Monitoring the temps, voltages and fans (HWMonitor, CPUZ, NVidia Inspector), and...
- stress testing the GPU(s). Running Heaven benchmarks and others (3Dmark).
- Stress testing the CPU(s). Running Prime95 and IntelBurnTest.
- Stress testing the memory with memtest86.
- Checking for latest drivers. Soundcards, video cards.
- Motherboard firmware, and looking up issues related to your firmware.
- Checking components and connectors are well seated and not loose (power off).
- Something related to Win 7 Ultimate? Did you install the OS, drivers and programs yourself or did it come pre-installed?

But first, calling OcUK. They should really provide you with support given how much you've spent on a machine that doesn't work out of the box. Even with user error, they should at least guide you through some troubleshooting.

Try disabling SLI - I've seen quite a few issues with Xeon CPUs and SLI from time to time :| (hopefully this won't be the issue tho).

Might be hyperthreading on the core's causing an issue on those games. My initial thought was corrupt ram on one of the gfx cards....but as it works on other games then id suggest sli profile problems or a problem with one card. Deactivate sli and run on one 580....then run on the other....see if there is a prob

For FNV, try limiting the game to 2 cores as I remember Fallout 3 didn't play nice with quads sometimes, so perhaps that could be an issue with your system and FNV. Here's a link to help you tweak the config:

Limiting New Vegas(and FO3) to cores is a very common and useful fix, but it is really to improve performance on multi-core cpus, such as when you get slowdowns, FPS drops and random crashes. It wouldn't really be a fix for a crash as soon as the game starts, as the op described.
OP's problems sounds more like an issue with his system, be it hardware or software rather than one of the (admittedly many) problems that New Vegas can have.

I really hope you get it sorted mate:)

tbh, might have been better of in General Hardware, as i imagine some of the posters in there do not venture in to PC games very often

I have to admit i was a bit shocked when i saw what the actual system was .

Definitely look into disabling SLi and limiting CPU cores for FNV & GTAIV. Good to see that something works alright though.

Hope it gets sorted, post benchies on Crysis! :D

(incidentally I like that the price difference between 2.66GHz and 4.0GHz OC is £16 :p)

I've been in Device manager and everything looks okay, no conflicts or missing drivers.

I've monitored temperatures and they don't seem to change much when running either game. I ran the Heaven benchmark test without any problems, but I don't have/wouldn't know where to get the others.

I downloaded all the latest drivers I could find as well as the latest firmware for the motherboard and I've made sure all my bits and bobs are in place. I installed some drivers but I believe a few were pre-installed, I downloaded a few as stated above just to make sure I had the most recent.

@Rroff I tried disabling SLI with both games and it didn't make any difference.

@GTR Racer I gave that a go and it didn't help any. I should also mention that my system runs on 6x2 cores and that my last system ran both games without any problems on a quad core.

@Alex74 As stated above, I did give that a go. Talking about Crysis, I might try see if that works on here.

fallout new vegas is very flaky on my PC crashes a lot
as for GTA well its uses games for windows live which can make it crash Is there any other games you can try.

Come to think of it go to 3DMark and download the basic edition and stress the system a few times and see if it crashes

Also having just reinstalled windows 7 and had a few problems with the lastest intel chipset driver's [ keeped crashing the system ] try older drivers

Also go to Control Panel / System and Security / Administrative Tools and then Event Viewer

In the Summary look fof Error open that then look for Application error and look for your games and see what the error is

Well, I downloaded the 3dmark and got no crashes with it. I went to the event viewer, but I couldn't find anything that looked like any of my game's crashes. I would install older drivers, however in the past I've had trouble with it as I would simply be told that I already had the newest and the installer would close.

I also did a benchmark test on Crysis, which I don't get sound on, though I did get a steady 60-70fps while benchmarking.

check the application event logs following the crash to see if there is any details on what has faulted - this has helped me resolve many issues of this nature without having to do a clean install or anything drastic.
