...they sent the wrong brand.

I paid for Pagid discs and some discs made by "Blueprint ADL" (never heard of them!) were delivered. Obviously i was a bit annoyed about this, but i thought it was just an admin error and they would sort it out as soon as i told them about it, so i emailed them.

Now they've emailed me back and said:

ECP said:
We would like to apologise sincerely for the inconvenience caused and assure you that we are taking necessary steps to resolve this issue in order to prevent a recurrence.

In terms of receiving a different brand, we would like to state that the Blueprint brand is Original Equipment on a number of car brands and is of equivalent quality to Pagid.

As per our terms and conditions, we stock more than one brand of certain products and can substitute the part ordered with one of the same quality.

To further reassure you, the parts are covered by a manufacturer warranty of 12 months, so in the unlikely event of any problems, we shall have the part refunded or replaced for you.

Am i right to feel a bit miffed about this? I didn't buy "Pagid or other branded discs" i bought "Pagid discs" and expected to receive "Pagid discs". Had they made it clear at the point of sale that i could receive "Blueprint ADL" discs, i wouldn't have gone ahead with the order.

Where do i stand? Can i insist they swap them for Pagid branded discs? Can i return them under DSR and would i be liable for postage? Has anyone had this before? Is it even worth me returning them? I can get Zimmerman discs (which were original equipment on the E92 for front discs) for less than i paid for these random "Blueprint ADL" discs which i've never heard of.

AFAIK you can return them under DSR regardless of their policy.. However I do not know who is liable for the postage.

Regarding the discs themselves, I would be a bit cheesed off if I had ordered them for my SX and probably push for a refund. However if I had bought them for a Mondeo or similar I would probably just put them on. What do you think will happen if you just use them?

Edit -- the reason I would want the correct discs on my 200 is because I am a brand whore, not because I think they would do any harm :)

there is some positive information about them on Google, but thats not the point.

you pay the premium for pagid because you know itll be good. what do you konw about blueprint adl??

they wouldnt be going on a my cars

Pretty much because I paid for the name and the brand quality that i trust. If i bought Goodyear Eagle F1's fitted and I got Continental Sport Contact 2's instead, and the company were insisting they were "equivilant" - i would send them back too.

I don't think the car is going to suddenly fall to pieces as soon as i fit the brake discs, but i wouldn't have paid £122 for these discs if i had known "Blueprint ADL" discs would be coming my way.

I just had a quick peek at their terms and conditions and spotted this:

ECP said:
4.4 All Goods supplied by us are subject to availability. We reserve the right in the event that we cannot supply you with the Goods that you have ordered, to supply you with substitute goods of equivalent or matching quality. In the event that you do not accept such substitute goods, we shall arrange and be responsible for the cost of collecting such substituted goods from you; subject to the goods being in the condition as provided at clause 5.3.2 and 15.1.3.

It seems then like ECP are being a bit cheeky by not mentioning in their email that i can return them for free. Other companies i've seen will say "we will try and send you the part you ordered, but if it is not available we will email you to ask if you would like an alternate branded product - but it seems ECP don't do this.

Blueprint do make decent quality parts but that is not the point, you paid for Pagid but received something else. Tell them to send what you paid for not an equivalent

This is exactly it. Some people say Blueprint ADL are wonderful - some people say they're terrible. All i can see is that they are OEM for a lot of Japanese cars and American cars, but no European cars.

It really isn't the point though, i wanted Pagid discs.

I guess i'll just email them asking them to pick them up and get Zimmerman discs for £100 inc del, rather than the £125 for Blueprint ADL's

Sorted then, just reply back along the lines of "As per your terms and conditions I would like the parts collected, at your cost, and refunded. Much love, Gaygle"

Just emailed them back. Is it worth ordering them again, but this time ordering to collect from a shop so i can call them to find out what brand they are before picking them up?

I don't disagree per se, and if ordering the Pagid discs have cost you more than if you ordered the Blue Prints in the first place then absolutely complain. Otherwise, meh, a disc is a disc in my opinion!

if they're good quality why not push for a discount or a code to enter for next time and just fit the damn things. If you really cared about your bmw, you wouldn't be fitting cheap discs in the first place.

Pagid and Textar (BMW OEM) are both made by TMD friction so the OP is not buying crap.

Cheers for that clarkey. Will check them out later when I'm on my laptop. And lol, Pagid are considered to be a cheap brand these days?? I wouldn't have minded if they had sent me Textar/ATE/Bosch etc as I would agree that these are "equivalent" products, but not Blueprint ADT who ive never heard of

I have heard of them, and they're ok. Not some crappy eBay job that will shatter the first time they heat up. I'd run them, but like I said if I was out of pocket I would complain..

So why is a 'disc a disc' then??

Same variations apply to material selection for a disc, better quality ones will have different blends of better metals.

So in short, yes I'd want the pagid discs.
