The dvd drive works i used it in my mates pc to install windows on his

Has the two SATA cables connected into it perfectly so dunno what im doinfg wrong

Boot priority. Are you sure you are setting it and saving it ok?

You could try the dvd on a different sata port.

I'm sure the fine people of this forum can see your level of appreciation when asking for assistance. Just joined a forum and start being rude. Not a winning trait. Bye.

Its not me being rude, ive had this motherboard since tuesday and no one has seem to have a fix for it like come on out of every computer wiz kid out there some one must know the asnwer

Im not botherd when i joined im a oclockers customer i can say what i want when i want if people want to help its up to them like i siad im not saying there not helping and i thank them but im not that stupid to not plug a cable in correctly which is the easiest cable out of the whole pc to plug in

but yeah bye "baldbloke"

set it to ahci or ide mode and make sure you can actually see your hard disk and optical drive are present and listed in the bios. Then set the boot priority. A flashing cursor after the bios normally means nothing has been detected to boot from so make sure it's listed!

and then

WD500-SES-4--R-D what ever they are western digital 500gb etc

edit; pressing f10 does nothing

Your going about the right way to get help. Every one in here is not an expert, they are people just like you. They will help if they can, but if your pc is not working it is not their fault.

Hopefully some of the answers you need are below. it is a common problem i see, but is usually a simple fault.

1.) (and im not saying your stupid but even the experts can get it wrong). Double check all your cables, especially the SATA and power leads to the DVD. If they are right and in the right way around, try plugging the SATA lead into another SATA port on the motherboard making sure they are fully in as they can be tight.
Also are there "jumpers" on the back of the HDD and DVD? if so are these set correctly for your PC? (usually removing them will default to automatic, but not always the case).
EDIT: just seen your post about it showing in the bois, so the above should be correct on your PC)
2.) The disk that you are tying to install windows from:
Have you used this disk before from boot? If it is not made correct it may not be a "bootable disk" although will still work within windows (i.e on a pc with windows currently installed).
If it is not a genuine Windows disk (even if a non genuine disk boots in one pc it may not work in another - try another disk).
If it is a genuine windows disk and not too scratched, you should have no problem (OEM or Retail make no difference at this stage).
3.) If it is definitely a "bootable disk" double check the BOIS, as it may not have saved the boot order you set (also check that the BOIS is showing the DVD drive, if it is not there is a fault somewhere).
Most/some modern motherboards have a "special" boot menu, (in addition the the BOIS order), by pressing an F key to get to the menu, this is usually the best way to boot from DVD if you have this option. (post what motherboard you have and someone may tell you what F key)

Assuming that you have not changed other settings in your BIOS and if all the above are right you SHOULD be given the option to boot from any "bootable disk" in the DVD drive (this should be irrelevant to any RAID or OEM windows issues, they will arise further on if you have any).

You mention "IDE RAID AND AHCI" this should be set to AHCI (unless you are setting up a RAID array. If you don't know what this is, then you are not setting one up :-) ). However i think this will only affect the HDD and not your ability to boot from the DVD (anyone please correct me if i am wrong on this)

I have seen people suggesting using "Optimized Defaults" for the BIOS (removing battery and all). I very much doubt this is your problem as this would typically cause different problems than you are reporting (and if it is this OCuk should help with this as your bundle was preclocked). Also using the "Optimized Defaults" will remove the Overclock from the motherboard and reset your boot order too.

Usually when i have seen this problem it is the windows disk or boot order at fault.

If you are sure all the above are correct and it is still not working or you are unsure on anything, ask politely and there are allot of good unpaid people here that will try to help you.
If you know nothing/lilttle about PC's (as you said above + you had overclockers set the overclock for you) maybe it would be best to take the PC and the disk to a shop an have them set it up for you (setting a pc up is only easy when you know how).

(how bad must i want to get access to the MM section !!)

Hope this helps
Jonny

Yeah i know tempers just a bit high off this pc thats all

And yeah it has like pins on the back which i have no use for as i have no wires for them but i just googled and they are jumpers and i have 8 pins on my hdrive and 10 on dvd drive and i dont know how to work them

Windows disc is not genuine as i lost my vista disc so i borrowed this of a friend but i can boot it im sure, cause on old pc i just formatted my hard drive and i had to make it say "press any key to boot or what ever" so i done that and then the disc loaded? BUT the hdrive did already have w7 on it BUT the hdrive is new and i installed w7 on it the day it came so im sure it cant be the disc

Dont worry about the Jumpers, as you can see both the HD and DVD in the BIOS, so they are either set correct or it is working anyway (usually does to be honest).

Having windows already installed on the HDD should make no difference to being able to Boot from DVD.
In fact having windows on the HDD should start the pc booting up to windows (it will probably crash somewhere, but it should atleast try to boot from it, or XP would have done).

Have you tried hyperst suggestion of pressing F10/F11 while the PC starts up (just keep pressing it again and again from when you turn the power on until it does something)
(you should get a small message shortly after powering the PC on saying somat like "press ESC for BIOS or F*something for boot menu" do you get this?)

When i press them it comes up saying

Please select boot device;

UEFI: Built-in EFI Shell
UEFI: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-212
P4: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-212
P5 WDC WD5000AAKX-001CAO
Enter Setup

Which should i choose?

the second or 3rd (UEFI: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-212 or P4: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-212)
Im not sure why you get 2, but try 1 and if that don't work try the other.
Make sure the Windows disk is in the DVD drive first.

If you put in your USB memory stick in now you have found the boot menu it will appear in the list, as long as you put it in before booting up.

Im just re-doing it as the guide i followed was wrong

I put NTFS - instead of FAT32

Hopefully this works just copying files over as we speak

Im taking it into a shop in the morning hopefully so they can probably find out the most pathetic reason ever why it isnt starting!
