Could this be a poll please?

Why are sandwiches that are bought in plastic triangular boxes rather than rectangular ones, does this mean certain shapes are more appealing than others?

Which packaging format would you prefer for your sarnies and why?

Triangles
Rectangles

That doesn't make sense.

Also, you can buy rectangular sandwiches. Go to Greggs and see.

I don't reckon this thread is worth a poll. Maybe we can have a poll to see if this rubbish is worth a poll.

Well right here I have my Simply nice cheap sarnies in triangle container. I realise that for years I use to cut sarnies into two rectangles and realised that I never seen rectangle sarnies in the shops, it seems to be triangles...but why?

It's to do with tradition.
The Earl of Sandwich, who invented the sarnie, used to take them to work in his hat to keep them fresh and his hat was a tricorne. Some places (mainly those of French origin) don't recognise this fact and refuse to cut sarnies in to triangles, that's why:)

And ban, ban, ban, ban...

I presume its because only in triangle packaging is the filling immediately obvious from looking at it. Rectangular packaging would say 'ive got something to hide'. The consumer wants to know exactly what he is buying when he is buying it.

(Psychological point of view)

Triangular packaging also has the effect of making the sandwich look thicker because they are placed side by side aside from making the filling more obvious.

Not worth a poll so voted no. I prefer my sandwiches to be tasty, I couldn't give a stuff what packaging they come in.
