Evening folks.

Well, i'm procrastinated over it for a while now and I took the plunge earlier and picked up the wireless wheel from the major high street videogames monger.

I've rigged it up and had a quick go on forza 2, pgr 3 etc and I'm not necessarily convinced it's for me. It doesn't seem to add anything to the game, but that was my concern as I've played with joypads for ages. :(

I don't want to be stuck with this as its 90 quid, the wheel is offcentre somewhat so I might take it back tomorrow to see if I can get a refund.

Or swapt it for Guitar Hero 2? :p

Anyway - should I stick with it, or try and take it back! Refund or GH2

Help me out!

I read on here that lots of them are slightly off center, mine is around 5 degrees off.

Yeah I read there is a fix if you do it yourself, much like the guitar hero fix. It will be fixed in the next wheel revision.

Funny that i have the exact sentiments as you, bought my wheel a few days ago and tbh i just cant get used to it...its a nice wheel but im too used to the pad now for Forza2 that i rigged up my wheel..managed to find a small table in my house and had a go with it. I think its the pedals that are causing me too much grief tbh...just cant used to them...too used to the triggers for braking and accelerating etc. I was hoping my times would get better but in fact they have got worse, much worse. So really cannot justify the wheel any longer...sadly ive thrown the box out so dont think i can take it back for a refund:(. So most probably will end up keeping it now and maybe trying to get used to it but i dont think thats going to happen.

Even turned down the FF as well and that hasnt made much of a difference tbh, which is a shame really as i really like the wheel but cant see myself really using it a lot...

For the record my wheel is perfectly dead center so must have got lucky with the QA issue lol.

Hmmm decisions decisions..i could just sell it on and make a little loss on it...its in perfect condition but i doubt it the store will take it back without a box.

I just played a right blinder :p

took it back to the branch i got it from and they hooked it up out back and said apparently they can't see the fault... :(

they said they'd swap it for a new one as goodwill but not refund or exchange.

they gave new a new one, i walked 300yrds up the road to the other branch and got a full refund as it was sealed :p

More dodgy MS hardware?

I read that the quality is not as good as their old Sidewinder wheel for the PC, nor a patch on the Logitech DFP wheel.

It acts as a deadzone so it has no effect what-so-ever on using it, so there is no real reason to fix it in my case :).

No, in terms of peripherals it's the first one (if you can call it that cause it works fine). It's better in terms of build quality than the sidewinder wheel also and equal with the MOMO from Logitech. Of course, it's not to the standard of the G25, but then again, neither is the cost.

You are quick to slate hardware you don't have aren't you. Every peripheral I've had from MS has been great, probably of a higher standard than anything on any other console. I've also never had a problem with my Xbox360, but of course, a lot of people have.

Does it not feel wrong having the wheel off center when your driving?

I have the money sat here to buy one, cheets kindly gave me a £15 off voucher for a highstreet games shop. Trouble is despite emailling them bloody twice I cant get them to update my account info to my new house. They dont recognise the postcode yet and you cant enter it manually. Number 58 and 62 in on their site but not 60

I doubt they can do it instore because it's my Credit card details etc

The wheel is ok in PGR3 but is a lot better with forza 2 and its just a case of getting used to it when you have been using the controller all the time but if you say its off centre then you can take it back and get another one also you really need to have it mounted to something decent and not be using the lap mount which is pap .

The 360 is dodgy :)

Mate, much as I respect you and think you're a great bloke, at times you get a little boring and predictable.

Come on, you're better than this, put your keyboard skills into your more constructive arguments than crap like this eh? :)

When I say it's off center it's so minor that it's hard to notice, at first glance it is. Like I said, it's about 5 degrees out, it's impossible to notice when yuo use it.

I had the same problem up until 6 weeks ago at this house.[/QUOTE]
