Bought the wrong tyre size, can I use them?

If it were my car my main concern would the actual looks of having two different profile tyres, even just going from 40 to 45 has a large visual affect.

As long as the car isn't 4wd there wont be any issue. As always, use a sat nav to work out your real velocity vs your speedo.

I know this is probably daft but what car is it?
5 GT doesn't ring any bells - other than Renault :p

Ah, forgot about that.
I was expecting a sports model as it was 20" tyres and the rears being bigger.

get them on ebay. and try and get as much of your money back as possible then order the correct pair.

Because the profile is higher your wheels are effectively 3.4 % larger than they should be, this can lead to your speedo being out since a complete revolution takes slightly longer than its supposed to etc.. As mentioned above it could possibly lead to abs sensors getting confused and possibly turning off ABS as a precuation.

Its not worth risking it imo when they are this wrong.

Eh???

EH????

what you been smoking?

I have had 15" 16" 195/40 195/55 tyres on my car and the speedo is never out as it's read from the gearbox.

Safety would be my main concern with looks being way way down the list.

depending on tyre width there could be zero difference between 40-45 profile
