bought wrong item on cd key website, options?

Who did you buy it from?

Normally they will refund you unless they are being dicks about it. You could always open a case with Paypal, since Paypal are dicks too sellers, they should side with you and refund you.
 
PayPal won't refund him. He got exactly what he ordered and it wasn't a trick sell either.

Take the offer of them selling it back on again and cross your fingers that someone else makes the same mistake.

They sell a lot of stolen keys, harming both consumers and game makers. It's why they have these ridiculous buyer protection schemes where you pay extra for rights legitimate sellers will grant you for free.

This is more for places like g2a, cdkeys themselves are a proper business and should be fine.

I don't know about cdkeys specifically, but the OP just said a "cd key" site and then mentioned a protection package which makes me think he's probably talking about a less legitimate site. Legitimate sites don't need to charge you for a "protection package".
