Bouncing weight on benchpress

but that is full ROM for a lot of people.

why do you advise otherwise, can you give any specific physilogical reasoning as to why you should over extend the shoulder?

im guessing that because i only go parallel with squats as opposed to A2G, i should not do squats?

Whatever next, partial curls? :D

Use less weight on squats if you can only manage partial, A2G all the way!

I would consider benching right down to your chest to be beyond the bodies natural full ROM.

You would? I don't see any of the experienced lifters at my gym cheating at benchpress and i'm certainly not going to go telling them they're wrong! :)

again, please post some phyiological reasoning as to why going to the chest is better for chest development than an inch above it.

it has nothing to do with weight. i know, i wont do squats anymore.

Anybody should easily be able to touch the bar to their chest, unless you have shoulder problems/trying to lift too much weight. Don't cheat yourselves, guys, get all the way down to get every bit of goodness out of benching :)

i admit im guilty of bouncing the bar off my chest but ive still noticed good strength gains and fairly decent chest development

i also see a lot of the more advanced guys doing the same and there chests look great too

All that and just a wind up?

You sir, are very dedicated.

I stand by everything i've said, to be honest, but the defensive reactions definitely raised a smile :p

You do the bench your way, i'll do it mine, everythings good :)

You attacked by implying, several times, that anything but your way was 'cheating'. What you're trying to pass off as defensive posts were actually challenges for you to prove your misguided (and wrong ;)) opinion.

You failed to answer with any kind of proof or back-up, maybe because there isn't any?

You really don't like anyone disagreeing with you, do you? chill out man

You should already be aware that it's best to train a muscle through full range of motion, so why go too heavy at the cost of form and cheating the exercise? You've already stated you're fine going down to chest with a lesser weight :)

Do the bench how the hell you like, chong, but please don't try to ram your theories down my throat mate :)

Out of curiousity now, what would you say are good strength gains and development? How long have ya been training? They might have good chests because they have been training for a while....

As I read the other day "Half a rep builds half a muscle" :p

Ok take it that way :(

Sorry mate, didn't mean to offend. End of the day, we all have different ideas about how we should train, makes for interesting reading too. Lets keep things friendly :)

Exactly. If I've come across the wrong way then I apologize, though I don't see how any of my posts come across as aggressive or whatever, maybe could have stuck an extra smiley in? :p

You must mistake me for some of the idiots you can come across on bodybuilding forums with their E-penis and ego's. I'm not questioning you because I think you disagree with me and my almighty awesomeness :D

I'm asking you can you backup your views with any kind of proof because if you know something I don't then I want to know, this is how we learn and improve isn't it? Am I missing out by not lowering the bar to my chest? Can you show me why? Any real evidence? If not then maybe I can show you that you're risking injury for nothing...

This is what I was saying, not "how dare you not agree with me" ;)

At the end of the day 'body building', as you seem to call it, is one of the gayest things you can do. Especially when it's just to get that 'beach babe' look, if you are actually doing what the name suggests I can understand. Otherwise just take up a normal sport, it will get you the same result and you won't look like a bender. The only downside is you might have to work for more than 45 seconds and you won't be able to scoff down an amino acid slush puppy after each 8 reps.

My point being arguing on the internet makes you look like a retard, and arguing on the internet about body building makes you look like a retard and a gaylord.
