What's the one with the fish in, that's quite nice.

Toco.... Toco is a great place imo, every nightout i always end up in there, and it shuts at 5am. Its next to Bliss (havent been there) theres a lovley burger joint thats open really late next to Toco and Elements, well worth going there

Walkabout is quite good to, even though oposite it has the most fights in the country or something because of the taxi rank

I'd give Elements/Dancing Fever a wide birth if you dont want to be surrounded by 18-22yr/old students in a meat market! Was in there a couple of weeks back and the place is still as terrible as it's always been.
I got head butted by some nutter outside of Elements when it was still called the Zoo & Cage and one of my mates saw some poor bloke get shot in the head and killed a few years later. Still, if you're after cheap drink and drunk girls..... it's ok.

@WantoN - I haven't been there for a few years so the current crop of students will probably know the town better but I highly recommend the Norwegian Wood cafe. They serve the nicest fried breakfast I've ever tasted. Not too pricey either.

I appreciate the info, but we're going :) I'd just like some input as to where to stay, and where to go, as opposed to where not to.

Just a few nice clubs, a decent bar or two, and somewhere convenient to stay would be really useful.

Ant

Check my first reply then my good man

It's spelt Toko :p

The only place in the area that would play the sort of music you're after is the Opera House (aka Slinky's). So, Bournemouth for pre-club drinks... Toko, Bliss, Walkabout (walking up hill from Gervis Place onto Old Christchruch Road). Hop into a taxi outside the Walkabout, ask for Slinky's (it's in Boscombe). 5 minutes later you're in a queue for what possibly is the biggest waste of time I've ever endured :p

I always ended up staying in Walkabout all evening when I was at Uni in Bournemouth - my sort of music, sadly.

If you want a bite to eat, try La Strada on Exeter Road... pretty much next to the Bournemouth International Centre. It's a lovely family run Italian. You will most likely walk past it from your hotel into town depending on where you stay. Also, try Bar So just opposite this restaurant... fun place.
Most of the hotels are located on West Cliff Rd/Priory Rd, or on the East side of the pier on East Overliff - can't go wrong with any of these hotels although my experience of them is limited to their bars!

I could go on! Email in trust if you want more info.
