Hi,

Can anyone recommend a box that does this via LAN? Needs to be HD and 5.1 compatible to go via a receiver, and be able to decode most video/music files..

Thanks

Build an HTPC! Fun projects abound, and a semi decent gpu means you can game on it. Or just get a smart tv. Not cost effective, but certainly the best options.

How far away is your PC from your TV?

I ask because with mine, they're both in the same room so I've just got a long HDMI cable and set the TV as a separate display. I use VLC to play movie files and set it's audio output to the HDMI audio port.

I have a 25 metre HDMI cable so I could do this, but its a PITA.. id also like to be able to control it via remote..

So I am assuming the WDTV is the thing to go for?

Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Or wait for the zoltac nano fanless. Just a shame I didn't but more windows licenses, when they were super cheap.
