It seemed the kid didn't like being in a gated community and he wanted to do something with his life. Thus he escaped / absconded and is now under the temporary care of social services. Weird story but nice ending. Like others said on here, I don't remember him being reported missing.

Apparently it was facebook.

The delivery driver said he lent the teenager his phone and let him use his Facebook account to contact his grandmother, Susan Caruana, who is also his legal guardian
