Bracketed Exclamation Mark?

Since this appears to be a grammar thread, is this correct (I wrote it out in another thread):

Try:

I didn't watch the video all the way through: I don't think I can! Was he trying to make a point in some way, à la Morgan Spurlock's 'Super Size Me'?

In the first sentence you could use a colon or hyphen. I also don't think you meant 'aka'. 'Super Size Me' doesn't have an exclamation mark either.
 
Hmm... interesting responses in this thread.

I was brought up watching Subtitles on TV, I they were always used to denote a sarcastic or similar point.

i.e. "I LOVED that movie (!)"

Is using a colon, hyphen or brackets equally acceptable - or can brackets not be used in that situation?:). Fair point about the exclamation mark, didn't realise that and I've a copy of it as well somewhere!
