Brake Pads and bedding them in.

How worn are the disks? If there are significant ridges then the initial braking needs to be relatively gentle to wear the pads to the shape of the disks without creating hot spots on the pads. Once the pads and disks are fully conforming then you can start putting the heat cycles through the system to bed everything in properly.

Disks are hardly worn atall, they have about 4k miles on them.

Same size as yours Si?

Same disks yeah, Due to his master cylinder size (bigger) he has the same calipers but with slightly bigger pistons.

You won't see my car for smoke anyway, still not fixed it. Too busy with work and other things. I'll get round to it :p

:D Well at least it'll be easy to spot.

"Oh look, here comes Simon again" :D

I think this is the only time that saying 'I'll be able to see you before I can hear you' is valid :p

I swear someone has managed to retro fit some DC5 Brembo's to a 2.

Probably done the best thing with the Wilwoods - likely exactly the same performance for less £.

Yep, £30 pads and £50 disks with sexy two piece rotors that isnt following fashion = win. Gonna take it a blast later to sort the pads, just been driving steady etc to heat cycle the disks afew times with slowly heating them up. For my pad (Colbalt Friction GT Sport) it will be 5 'gentle' stops from 60-20, let cool for 10 mins driving, then repeat with harder application of the pedal and let cool. This should transfer the layer of pad material to the rotor which is critical to the performance of the brakes.

The stoptech site is a good site to ponder over on brake stuff.
