I got my Front Discs and Pads replaced a few months ago on my Honda Civic Vision 1.4 (2002).

I was quite pleased with the price, and the fact that my car stopped when I wanted.

In the last few weeks or so I'm getting an embarrising 'Squeeeeeeeel' for the first 2-3 minutes when applying the brakes, or untill I STOMP on the pedal... after that nothing... Quiet as a mouse when braking!..

If I then leave the car for a few hours... and then drive, again, I get this squeeling when Braking!.. again for only 2-3 minutes...

Is this normal!.. I've googled.. and there seems to be mixed opinions... Some say "Its due to the higher Metal content (Asbestos Replacement) in the pads!, Don't Worry", and other say "OMG get to the Garage your gonna kill someone at the next Crossing!!!"..

I'm gonna try and get to the garage but I can't for about a week!... So I want to know if I'm gonna kill someone or (god forbid) myself before then!!! :(

Cheers
Sim.

One or the other, you might have a something caught in there, if you've had the whole thing replaced, I wouldnt worry about it.

dont know if it'll help, but i replaced the front pads of my Jazz last march, i also have the same problem as you. It would squeal, but only if brake lightly applied. Sometimes it wont even make a sound. It is so "on and off" i didnt think it could be due to wear, esp since they were just replaced and i'm a very conservative driver... brakes also seem to work when needed, and work well...

any ideas?

Bit of coppaslip between the anti-squeal shim and pad, plus a little dabbed on the back of the shim itself, usually quietens these things up but your milage may vary.

the pads and disks could be glazed, will be layer of crap due to bedding them in wrong had squeeling on mine for 3 weeks, greasing the back etc lasted about half an hour.
