How long does it take for brakes to bed in? I got new brakes in last tuesday, now i haven't done many miles, but they dont seem to be stopping me like my last ones. Is there some kind of brake in period for when they start working fully if you know what i mean.

When I had the pads changed on my Passat it took them about 50-100 miles before they felt like they were working properly again. IIRC it takes a bit longer for discs to break in but the pads shouldnt take that long.

give them at least a 100 miles b4 using them properly.... just drive carefully within this period... then they should be fine..

Well i forgot to say i got new pads and discs. Will this take a little longer? As i have done about 100 miles and they dont seem to be braking so well. And the pedal is not as firm, will this improve?

They take a while to bed in. You've got to brake gently for a couple of hundred miles or so so as to not overheat and glaze the pads. You have to allow for brief cooling periods between brake application. Do not come to a complete stop with hot brakes and never leave your foot on the brake pedal after you have used the brakes hard.

It should do. Don't go too hard on them until they're bedded in properly as the discs can be warped easily (so I'm told). What car is it btw?

Ok i will wait and see over the next few miles, if they dont improve they will be coming off. And different ones on.
