Brand new mech drive faulty?

Hi there,

Just received a brand new drive today, the Toshiba X300 8tb (not purchased from Overclockers) and installed it like ive installed loads of mechnical drives before it and I can't seem to get the PC to pick it up but also is making a very strange noise..

Before i return it does everyone agree that this is fautly?

Sounds more like a printer than a HDD, to be sent back DOA.

If it isn't being picked up in both the BIOS and windows and that noise (which could be a constant head seek or more then likely the motor trying to spin up and failing) then it's DOA and should be returned.

Cheers guys, yea just as I thought.

See this is what happens when you buy cheap, I wanted a large capacity gaming drive and I chose the X300 cos it was the cheapest by quite a bit even though Id rather have a seagate or WD.

So now Ive contacted the retailer for a refund and have instead put an order in for the 10TB BarraCuda Pro from Overclockers instead
