Now updated to 1.21.1! See end of post for new connection details!

Well hello all. As a lot of you will know I've been running a Minecraft Server ever since the sad demise of TheLinkTart server on here. TheMustardSeed was created to try and replace it. The world has been the same for the last 5 or so years, and has had some ugly hacks here and there to update the world with each MC update. The time has come to start a fresh! Soooo:

Welcome to the new TheMustardSeed. The world has just been generated using 1.20.1 The world has been updated to 1.20.4 1.21.1 and is running Spigot. The usual plugins are running: Core Protect, Grief Prevention, Tree Assist, Dynmap, SinglePlayerSleep
Whitelist is on
PVP is on
Difficulty is Hard
The server is based in London.
Server rules are fairly relaxed - build as you see fit. Please don't cheat/use modded clients. Whilst PVP is on, we are primarily a PVE server. Claim your builds, as builds that are griefed but not claimed will not automatically be restored!

Discord: https://discord.gg/Y4VWVzA

See the old thread if you would like to download the old world here

You'll need to give me a shout if you would like to be added to the whitelist. I have carried the old whitelist over, so if you've already played on TheMustardSeed you're good to go. The Dynmap is here (Old link soon to be retired) I find it invaluable for not getting lost lol! Server connection details are:
themustardseed.mcserver.ws or 88.150.171.98:25565

The world is ready to be explored. End hasn't been conquered yet, there are no farms, just a fresh, new, unexplored world ready to go!

Catch you in the overworld! Laters - Ham

EDIT: New connection details are: themustardseed.duckdns.org and the new dynmap is here

The existing world will be up for a few more weeks until it's shutdown, but I would suggest only connecting to the new host, as I won't be moving any further world saves across from .mcserver.ws once the host renewal expires.

Just a bit of a bump. I'm having fun playing again, as I've taken a bit of a break from MC the last year or so.

This seed is shaping up to be really good - there's a Woodland Mansion within 1km of spawn, which is pretty rare, a mooshroom island about 5km out from spawn, a whole pant-load of Ocean Monuments close to spawn, most of the biomes are pretty close too, so this is all good. There's a village fairly close to Spawn, so a few of us are going to make a simple, basic Iron Farm at spawn so it's running 24/7 for that iron goodness. I found a Mesa (or Badlands as they're now called) not too far out, so have a load of rails to start the "fun" process of shifting villagers about.

I'm purposely not pushing for the End too quickly, but how long that will last I don't know as I'm missing my Elytra lol!

So a few things - couple of us have made a quick and dirty iron farm in spawn chunks, so it's now running 24/7. It's very modest, but didn't take long to throw up. I've also tracked down a Stronghold, it's only about 1k from spawn. I've dug a Nether tunnel to it (I'm digging the Nether Tunnels at Y 115 so as to hit and quartz veins. Yes, it's a little more dangerous with drops etc, but the risk is worth the reward, early game at least).
Time to farm up some flint and feathers, then at some point I'll head into the end. I've got 7 Eyes of Ender ready to go, I need a few more blaze rods and about 5 more ender pearls to unlock the end portal! There's a nether fortress right near the nether portal to the stronghold too, so that's pretty nice!

Mmmm End Portal ready to go....

Curious to your reasons for choosing Spigot over over others such as Paper? Also when you say mostly Vanilla is that the only change? Been getting the itch to come back to MC after a hiatus and want that fresh start feeling again so this is very tempting!

Allo. Used bukkit/spigot a lot, have no issues with it so gave stuck with it, the plugins we run work well in it.
Yes, mostly vanilla apart from the few plugins listed above which are more admin and qol based. Edit to add you don't need any client side mods, it's all server based

Afternoon Haaammit, not sure if my whitelist has been carried over as I think the last time I played properly on TMS was FTB Beyond. If I can be whitelisted that would be great, I haven't given vanilla a proper go since, I think, 1.13 so could be nice change of pace from heavily modded.

Edit: Nevermind, just tried connecting and still works so obviously still whitelisted. See you online :)

Heh heh - might have known you'd find one too!
Couple of us have built a basic Gold/XP farm up on the nether. Had a few teething problems, but a load of buttons to spawnproof some spots up high helped. One client mod I use for helping with spawn areas around players is MiniHUD It's invaluable for showing many things, including a 128 block sphere you can set at your afk spot and it will show you in the world where you need to spawnproof. Dead helpful. I use CurseForge Beta to load it up.
To that end, if you find some random buttons in the nether please don't remove them - they're helping the spawn rate of the gold farm. I'll probably get some Piglins up there later for bartering, but that's a job for another day.
Go through my nether portal and then follow the signs up onto the roof. There's an ice/boat road to the farm. Go up the scaffold and into the AFK spot. Loot will appear sorted into the chests, XP will go directly to you. No levers to pull/buttons to push, it will just start running. Please note it is a "force" spawner, so if there are other players in the nether, the rates will drastically drop off. Enchant area/crafting and anvils on the lower section. Farm is safe, but there are storage chests you can dump your gear in if you'd rather (your choice/risk).
Rates are pretty good - below is 1 hr AFK and there's also just under 2 double chests of rotten flesh too. Yes, that's over 200 levels of XP too (I think I started the 1hr session with ~95 levels) Feel free to use it. I think I'm going to work on a villager trading hall at my place next.

I forgot to ask the other day about this. I took your OP of no modded clients to mean a pure vanilla client but now I'm thinking you meant more no altered clients for glitches / exploits etc. rather than no mods. If so, does that it's ok run other client mods like mouse tweaker and inventory tweaker?

Allo - sorry for the delay in replying!
Yes, I should have been more specific, no "cheaty" type mods, xray, fly hacks, pvp hacks, chest finders, those kind of things. QOL mods are totally acceptable - example, I tend to have a minimap running most of the time as well as I'd probably get lost without it, even with the dynmap lol!

had a good start on a trading hall. One wing is built (not decorated or roofed yet though) and populated. There is a mechanic where you can get a zombie to "kill" the villager, then cure the now zombie villager to drop his trades. I can get all the listed enchantments for 1 emerald each, and sell iron, sticks and crops for huge profit lol! There is also Diamond Tools and Diamond Armour to buy as well as bows, so you can get really decent gear, combined with the XP farm up at the goldfarm, decent stuff is easy to get now. Enchanted books so far are:
Silk, Infinity, Punch II, Mending, Depth Strider III, Unbreaking III, Efficiency V, Channelling, Luck o the Sea I, Fortune III, Protection IV, Fire Aspect I, Aqua Affinity, Fire Protection IV, Respiration III, Flame, Blast Protection IV, Impaling V, Projectile Protection IV, Sweeping Edge II, Looting III, Curse of Binding, Curse of Vanishing, Sharpness V, Multishot, Smite V, Feather Falling IV, Knockback II, Loyalty I
So pretty much all the main enchants. Still looking to get Power V but need to build the second wing before starting the process again lol!
Going to have to go to the End fairly soon as I want Elytra and Shulker Boxes soon. Planning on a Creeper farm first though for gunpowder for rockets!

Nice one! I might have to come visit for a few books :)

I've been working on my own trading hall but I'm not much of a builder so set myself a personal challenge that to build the externals before I put anything in a build as I know my trading hall would still look like your screenshot whenever the server gets reset next :D So my trading hall is not even half built but resource gathering is such a pain unenchanted.

I'm proud my designs though so will have to post some screenshots once it's finished :)

You're more than welcome to use them, you'll need a supply of weakness potions and golden apples if you want to really lower their trades though!
Having a break from the villagers, so started to build a basic creeper farm out at -600 200 Simple design using Snow Golems and Soul Campfires. Going to do two levels, so should give decent enough results, then after that going to head to the End I think as I'm desperate for shulker boxes, especially for larger builds and transporting materials!
Work tomorrow, day off Sunday, so should get the creeper farm done. One more week at day work, then I've got 6 weeks off, so can really make some progress lol!

Well the Dragon is slain and is no more. End is now open. I'm unsure whether to make an Ender XP farm as the Gold/XP farm is so quick and pretty fast to get to. I think it's faster to use that than to head out to the End and back, but then I think we could do with a supply of Ender Pearls, plus it means that the only XP farm won't be tied up if someone else is in the Nether/End and gives a little more flexibility! TBF, End XP farms are easy enough to do, just need building blocks for it! Will see.
Got over a stack of Shulker Shells and my travels, so I have a good 32 shulker boxes, plus getting around is a lot faster with Elytra! I headed due East in the End, so if you're after End loot, best avoid the route I took (You can see it on the Dynmap)

A couple of us knocked up a quick and dirty Raid farm today. Not too fussed by emeralds, but more interested in Totems of Undying. So, to that end....there is a raid farm down at -90 3267 There is, of course, a nether path there. There are three portals, all labelled. Ignore the old portal, that was just a temporary base.

To use the farm do need to have the Bad Omen effect. To do this, head through the portal labelled Pillager Outpost and mooch about until you see the Illager Captain (the banner guy lol). Kill him and you'll get the effect. Head back through the portal, then head to the other one, labelled Raid Farm. The raid will then start and the Illagers will be funnelled down to you. Start slashing them up!! After you complete the first raid, a second one will start. Rinse and repeat for 5~7 cycles. You'll get a Victory notification once you're done. Collect your loot. Head back to the Pillager outpost to get Bad Omen again if you want and go again. Up to you.

The Illagers/Ravagers/Witches etc shouldn't get stuck. If they do, there is a ladder up to the spawning area. Ravagers will be killed by the lava-blade, so don't worry about them.

I'll light it up at some point to remove unwanted mobs. You will need a looting 3 sword to get the best loot. I'll probably just stick a communal Iron one in the chest with mending on it. These are the results from one complete cycle of raids. Takes a few minutes. You will want to immediately kill any Evokers asap. They shouldn't be able to see you, but if they do, expect Fang and Vex attacks,......ie, kill them with extreme prejudice.......lol!

Not too bad for a quick and dirty farm! Laters - Ham

Starting to get some decent progress now. Managed to scavenge up three Wither Skellie skulls, so that's my first beacon done and dusted. Haste II obvs.........

I threw a quick EnderXP farm together. Rates are fast enough. Not timed it yet, but *should* be 0-30 lvls in ~60 seconds. There's a bubblevator up and down to Y level 2. Run out on the leaf path. There is a basic room there with an Enchant Table, crafting bench and anvils. I've also put in a communal sword with Sweeping Edge III, Sharp V and Mending. Feel free to use it, just make sure to replace it once you're done. Stand up against the trapdoors and start swinging. Sometimes you can't quite reach the Endermen at the back, so flip up the lower trapdoor, take a teeny step forward and you can then hit them. Don't go too far forward or they'll hit you.

Still searching for a Deep Dark biome. Laters - Ham

Mmmmm - beacon-tastic. Must actually make a house now, instead of living out of chest-monsters.....

Well hello all. As a lot of you will know I've been running a Minecraft Server ever since the sad demise of TheLinkTart server on here.

Hey is this still running? I'm feeling a bit of a Minecraft itch latley. Tefal21 was my minecraft name, don't know if you copied the link tart whitelist too.

Is industrial craft a thing these days? I miss lava pipes :p
