Brand New *Mostly Vanilla* Minecraft 1.21.1 Trial Chambers Update server now up and running! TheMustardSeedReborn

Well that was scary as hell. One Ancient City cleared of skulk sensors and shriekers. Noice! Reasonable loot, not sure it's worth the time investment though.

God damn those zombie children.

I had a go at trying to get some shaders/textures working but failed lol

@haahave you got a mob farm that I can use i have no idea on the designs of them anymore, and is it OK to trade with your villagers till I can get the one near me fenced in and breed them up.

made a bublevator up and down to -53 will get it sorted tomorrow a bit neater for steip mining. Find i just get a destroyed by the zombie kids exploring caves atm lol.

Going to get some autosmelters made once I can find some redstone starting to build a big smelting cathedral on the side of the mountain. It's gonna have 3 windows that face south I'm roughing them at 18x40 before an arched top. That should fit the 14x37 high width of a default "steve" or the 16x16 furnace/otherblock in 1x1 pixels for blocks for stained glass windows lol. If you fancy an art project :p

They're a pita aren't they? :eek::D

Yes, sure. The trading hall is for anyone to use. There is a mechanism is which you can "infect" and then "cure" the villagers to get them to lower their trades, you'll need golden apples for that though, and the gold farm has currently been severely nerfed, although it does still work with slower rates and doesn't give XP any more (Damn you Mojang). WRT mob farms, what do you need? There's a gunpowder farm and an XP farm. Gold farm also drops rotten flesh. There's a spider farm out in a mesa somewhere as well iirc

Gimme a list of mats and I'll see what I can farm up for the project as well!!

Awesome thanks, I think we'll need about 35-40 stakes of glass panes for the 3 windows + whatever colour dyes.

I was thinking we could make stained glass windows.

I've been roughing it out in smooth stone as its what I know rather than any of the fancy blocks, maybe inside we can make it more decorative with the store stylish materials.

Do you think deepslate brick slabs for the roof, like a traditional al slate roof or copper so it goes green?

I got creeper bombed at the "spawn" the iorn farm seems OK but in not sure if I broke the bone one?
.sorry happy to help fix but by the time I got back everything had despawned and I really don't get what the mechanism does

Oh noes - did you get your stuffs back though? Yar, that farm is in spawn chunks, so is always loaded, which is why the bits despawned.
I'll have a look in a bit, it'll be a simple enough fix. I'll probably spend some time torch spamming as well, make it a bit safer lol!
Copper for the roof would be nice, there's not much other use for copper other than decoration!

This seems like the best thread to ask in:

I'm running my own Minecraft server on a little home lab machine. Have I assumed right that leaving it running has no advantages if my player isn't connected? I.e., if I set up farms or whatever, they won't be running because me not being connected means those chunks aren't loaded, and so aren't simulated?

Essentially, that is correct. There are *some* exceptions, spawn chunks are always loaded whilst the server is on regardless of playercount, plus there are ways of chunk-loading in the vanilla game, but that's a more advanced/technical type of play.
I have the iron farm in spawn chunks on this server specifically so it runs 24/7 :)

Exciting news - I'm changing the host of TheMustardSeed, so the connection is now different:

themustardseed.duckdns.org

to connect, and

for the dynmap. The dynmap will need to be re-rendered, but that's a slow process, so http://themustardseed.mcserver.ws:8123/ will still be up for a few more weeks to show the explored areas.

The world map and player progression remains the same. You may need to reclaim your builds, holla at me if you've run out of claim blocks!

Any problems connecting, also give me a shout, either on here or on the discord. Both worlds will run for a few more weeks, until the renewal runs out on .mcserver.ws I won't be transferring any progress on .mcserver.ws to duckdns.org so fair warning to only connect with the new deets

Cheers y'all

Hi, can anyone connect? Do you need to whitelist usernames for connections?

Thanks. Just logged in and had a quick look around. I'll be back on tomorrow :)
No problemo - catch you in game.

I've just started a full render for Dynmap, so it should fill in the explored map. This is a lengthy process, and it *might* cause the TPS to drop (although it hasn't done so far). Once the overworld is re-rendered, I'll redo the nether and end dimensions too, which should take a lot less time!

Hey is this still running? I'm feeling a bit of a Minecraft itch latley. Tefal21 was my minecraft name, don't know if you copied the link tart whitelist too.

Is industrial craft a thing these days? I miss lava pipes :p
I Thought you were Tefal12, granted this was almost 14 years ago now :D

there's tnt duping/ i remember we had to farm it in the huge spawner and like you say nuke a desert or two.

i have some ideas for large scale projects, give m an hour to type up the vauge outline + fix the typos. in the meantime, i dont have my hdd from back then but i had a few screenshots from back then that steam has saved. of our nether portal room, from the dwarf build, this was essentially just the front porch lol

i cant remmber how we planned out the dome, i think it may have been pen and paper.

with the new hights we could build vastly tall underground builds. or use the extra skybox hight to make great new structures. ive identified some sites that could be good for multiple projects. its a bit weird this is the fuirst time ive really used my laptop for typing in a few years lol instead of the phone.

the good old days, never did finish the big pit that was to be the entrance hall/statue hall of the dwarf build, steam fortunately still has the screen shots i took of sylvet's skin to model for his statue in there, it was going to take so many chests of lapiz lazu to build. but it does give me one idea to take the dome idea of the nether portal room, expand it and turn it into a larger lighter pantheon style structure , with a syl statue, and around the edges a large doubble helix stair case, and multiple floors mezzanine of barrel storage with signs of every single player obtainable item in the game in honour of his tireless work of sorting every chest in every major build on the server.

I remember the building of this, we used "Minecraft Structure Planner" a java program that allowed you to create geometric shapes and break them down layer by layer.

Portal room was completed but huge entrance hall was never finished due to massive excavation required. Cross section leading to portal room:
