brand new toshiba battery last 1 hour !

1hour 30 mins isnt that good still imo my old satilette toshiba used to last 2-3 hours but i guess it must have been a higher cell battery not the bottom of the pile like this battery and i suspose vista genertates more power
 
Does the battery say on it 2000mah?

If so these are being shipped with cheap batteries. They do make 4000mah ones though. Might be worth purchasing one and keep the 2000mah as a spare.

not sure what the battery says will check tonight when the mrs had finished using it but i suspect you are right.
 
I have a Satellite Pro P100, 17" screen. Full charge lasts around 90minutes. I wish it was longer. Might have to sell the laptop :(
 
May be catching this thread a little late, but my Fijitsu Siemes Amilo Li 1818 2G also has terrible battery life. Might just scrape 2.5 hrs. Just a fact of life with these cheap laptops I'm afraid. Think the battery in mine is either 3 or 4 cell, and when you think some laptops have 9 cell batteries.

P4s are terrible for power consumption btw (mine is a core duo, which explains why mine lasts a bit longer). All you can do is turn the screen brightness down either further and if the laptop has a power saving mode (mine has a button which limits cpu/gpu speed) then make sure it's turned on as soon as you go on battery. And set the screen to power off after 1-3 mins on battery. Also disable all unnecessary background tasks. Definitely buy a better battery if there's one available.
 
Ive just discovered that when you remove the power cable it stays in high performance mode. No wonder i was draining the battery so quick. I'll try it in power save mode later :)
 
Theres loads of options that can be fiddled with in control panel. Take a browse and see if you can lower some things like screen brightness.
