Thinking about this lately. Is it better to be brash, or humble.

I can be quite brash sometimes, perhaps even arrogant but with a sense of humour.

I'm wondering what is more effective. Any thoughts?

I think brashness is fine if you're smart enough to see the line where its time to stfu - a lot of brash people don't seem to realise this.

Aye I've noticed....

....that's open to debate...

But doesn't brashness hack people off?

*nods*

I'm struggling to think of anything else to say tbh. I guess how brash people are taken is kind of dependant on the temperament of the person (in the case of forums) who reads the formers' comments.

Define what you mean by "effective." And how can you just choose to have one attitude or the other?

Quite simple. Who you are with one person will not be the same as who you may be with another.

I am often brash socially, because it can work. However, I wish to be humble spiritually.

I am wondering how to combine these, which is best. I know which I prefer, although I also know which is more effective in company.

Are you attempting to use brash as a synonym for confident? Because if so I'd class them differently brash can appear noisy or dismissive while confidence might not. If you have a bit of charm then even if you are brash then you are more likely to be able to pull it off(within limits) but to be confident you don't need to be brash, the old cliche of quietly confident still stands.

Which is an interesting question. I'd call it brashness becasue it is almost self-absorbsion. You have to be confident to pull it off, and I am not getting people's backs up with it either.
