Realised I hadn't added any pictures, got it cleaned (not a proper job) today and grabbed a few before it got dark. Let's keep this friendly so no "OMG WUT ITZ A FIAT!1! U N00B!1234!" I've heard it all

Stock it's running about 155bhp but with a GSR and map (which I'm looking at getting for about £400~) it'll be pushing about 185bhp~ which is good for 7.5secs~ to 60 apparently.

Opinions?

Nice, what engine is in it? Sport/Dynamic T-Jet 150?

Dynamic 150Tjet. Wanted all the mod cons that came with the Dynamic and as I've always planned for a remap the sport button would have become useless. Prefer the Sport seats though but oh well.

t-jet? that's the same size engine as my cinquecento then ;)

(yes ok, you've got a turbo.. so have i, but it's on the shelf in the garage :D )

nice car mate, like it

You've put a Tjet in yoru Cinq? The Tjet's have only ever come with a Turbo and only been around since 2006~? Even the standard non-turbo current 1.4 engine from Fiat isn't called a Tjet only the 120bhp and 150bhp both with Turbo's?

Iirc it came from the old Fiat FIRE engine and has been increased to 1.4 and they've added the Turbo to bring it up to 150bhp.

tjet is just a name that is used on the bravo and gp. it is a 1.4 16v engine, *similar* to what is in my cinq. the t-jet engine is essentally the same, it just has different pistons and a slightly different crank. both of which can be retro fitted into the engine i have my cinq.

the 1368cc 16v is a bored out version of the old 1242cc 16v which first appeared around 1997 in the mk1 punto sporting. it has evolved a bit since then, but is essentially just that. the block owes its roots to the 8v FIRE engines first seen in around 1990.

Yeah knew it came from one of the older Fiat engines and the T was based on the standard 1.4 16v (also used in the Bravo - good for about 90bhp iirc?)

So you looking to put 150bhp~ into a Cinq, wouldn't that be suicidal?

it's a 1.4 isn't it?

the cinq will be around 110bhp to begin with, then pending a turbo conversion i want around 135bhp from it. i do not plan to fit the tjet pistons or crank, so will run it low blow. and yeah, it'll be silly quick. hell it was with the 1242cc 8v MPI engine it had in before this one :D

Yup was a typo (only current Fiat 1.6 is the new eco-mjet).

I have never seen one of these on the roads since they were launched.

I'd expect 7 dead to 60 with 185bhp at the minimum, esp if those are 16" wheels. Well, unless it's really heavy.

I liked my old Mk1 Punto, shame they aint done anything proper like the old 1.4 Punto GT. Hope you like it anyway :)

Not sure about 7 dead. It does it in 8.2secs with 150bhp according to the book but most people who have had it timed have got 8 dead. Wheels are 17's.

I like :)

May i suggest a small drop, just to fill them arches a little ?

They look a little high in pic 3

The GSR induction and remap are the first things I'm going to look at, pretty much as soon as the weather picks up a bit and then lowering is next on the list. Not gonna go too low, I agree just a bit. Certainly not slammed I'd imagin 30mm or something like that.

You totally did the right thing going second hand in the end. It's let you go right to the top end of the car one above what you originally wanted.

I've always like the looks of the Bravos from behind.

Yeah I'm glad I did also, I love the car the only thing is I want more poke out of it, hoping the map and GSR will give it that extra power I'm after.

Cheers for all the comments guys, since I've owned it I've only seen two others on the road.

Just as it was getting dark today a mate phoned me up to see if I wanted to have some photos taken. Shame the light was pretty ***** but none the less got a few shots in. Could have done with a clean but it'll do.

What did he use to take the photos? The phone he called you on?

Also the composition sucks, nowhere near as much effort as mrk puts in:

The light was pretty shocking, gonna get some better shots next week. Just wanted to get a few photos of my car not parked right outside my house ;)

Where are you looking at getting the remap?

I'd drop the GSR and just get the remap. Have you considered Red Dot?

Yeah RedDot is the only place I'd get it done. Peter who does the Remaps makes the GSR induction kits so they really work well together.

I have shocked myself a bit here, but I really do like that quite a lot. Gives me another idea for the future, something i wouldn't have even considered. Got any shots of dash, seat wear etc..?

I'm just off to Brighton for the weekend but when I come back I'll take a few for you. I believe AutoCar are running it as one of there cars and in a recent issue it was saying how good the build quality has been.

Any insight if the clutch will handle the power?

It uses the same clutch the Mjet uses and they remap to about 200bhp without any real money spent and no issues yet that are known. Only real known issue is knocking with the suspension which should be done as a recall anyway.

I'd be happy with 180bhp which is do-able from the petrol with the map and induction.

Iirc the Grande Punto Abarth uses the same clutch or a very similiar one and with the EsseEsse tuning kit (supplied and fitted by Fiat) that runs at about 180bhp. Infact most of the engine is suppose to be the same as the standard 150bhp Tjet Bravo that I've got (Turbo etc...).

Got off my arse and finally cleaned the car today after Uni. A few photos all taken on my crap camera phone but gives you an idea what the car is like. Managed to get a few images of the dash and inside before I cleaned it. Seats show no wear so far.

the gear knob is crooked already? good build quality there!

It's designed that way, took a bit of getting use to and I thought it was weird for a while. Basically it's just tilted towards the driver.

Same way the radio part of the dash is slightly facing towards the driver, yet the climate control is dead straight.

What fuel consumption are you getting?

When I first got the car and I was going for it everywhere lowest I got was 27MPG. Last few weeks I've managed to drive a bit more sensibly and getting 36MPG round town. Done just over 2000 miles and got an average of 30.2MPG out of that.

Remap should help that a bit.

They are suggesting your car sits too high on it's wheels, pretending to be a 4x4. I actually don't think it's anywhere near too bad. Not all cars need a 'drop'.

Ah thought so but wasn't sure. Can't say it looks that bad in real life. I would consider lowering it but certainly won't be slammed. Maybe 30-40mm but theres a whole list of things (ICE, Remap & Induction) to worry about before as doubt it'll get done anytime soon.

At the OP.

Thanks for taking the time to update interior pics as I requested. This is now under serious consideration, although I will have a good sniff at the build quality (bend gearknob!) and the boot space may need to be measured.

Thanks muchly.

No worries, still impressed by it 4 months on. Mum's just brought one as well (a 90bhp version though) in black on a 57 plate and it's really nice too.

Finally got round to getting it on a RR and getting it remapped and a GSR induction kit.

A 1.9 Mjet Grande Punto that came down (Was badged up as an Abarth though). After a new intercooler, remap and induction kit they went from 130bp~ standard to 193bhp. Pretty nice.

A nice little project one of the guys was working on as well.

Was a fun day, despite it taking close to 7 hours (had a few cars on the go). Check out these horrific Corsa's that turned up to the chav place opposite.

Anyway here's the graphs.

165bhp standard, up to 180bhp. Not a *massive* increase but the midrange bhp has gone up by nearly 35 at some points and I can feel the difference. Was discussing twin-turboing it which should take it to 250bhp but that seems pretty mad to me.
