Brazil poised to start cloning multiple endangered species.

I suppose I should also get the thread back on the Titles topic.

I wonder if we kept some of the already extinct animals DNA on ice in the past 50 years...would be nice to some of them sprout back in.

Also, could we technically grow Ivory now? Curious.

well, there are 10796 animals on the "earths endangered creatures (.com)" list, and with one animal simply called "Neglected Frog" i think they need to show it some loving, clone it and make it into the "Much Loved Frog"

Cloning is a very good way of keeping endangered species alive but are most of these species not becomeing extinct due to the ever expanding human population? Is it not darwins survival of the fittest at work?

Start cloning these endangered species and before you know it the human race will have to start some enormous culling regime. Keeping the DNA and practicing cloning is a must though as eventually the human race will have too expand into the solar system and having the knowledge and ability to clone animals and insects will be a massive bonus, especially if we can tweak the DNA to make said animal more robust in different environments, saying that I wonder if we could with a little DNA tweaking introduce some new species into the barren lands of earth?

As for human cloning, this will come about eventually and I believe it should, either that or we learn how to build and replace complete human parts using an individuals DNA, it is the only way we will live for a long time. Especially if we work out how to transfer a human consciousness, it might on copy onto an exact match of the Host brain.

Wow I obviously read too much sci fi :)

girlfriend clone..oh the possibilities extra benefits, twice the nagging!..alas, personality isnt cloned

as with everything controversial in science...
developed..tested..public out cry.. it happens.. eventual public acceptance
good or bad thats how it happens

tbh there isnt really any issues with higher animals becoming extinct anyway

Where would they put the cloned animals?
Surely the reason they are going extinct is due to their habitat being destroyed, cloning cant fix that.

So what if hitler was cloned. We don't have genetic memory, they wouldn't be the same person.
I think it will get more acceptable to clone humans as the technology evolves and society gets used to the idea of cloning animals.mslow but study progression.

Anyway as said cloning animals and cloning humans is two very different things anyway.
