Bread

i have a bread maker but its crap, or maybe im crap.

I do love going to a store/shop and they have just put out fresh still warm, crusty bread... usually means i buy half as much shopping as i need, rush to get some lurpak, and get home to eat it

The point I am trying to make is that why does the instore bakery taste so much better than Kingsmill/Hovis.

It doesn't try some warburtons toasty probably the best "non fresh" bread in the world. The only stuff which is better is proper stuff from bakers.

Hmm yummy.

Have you tried it with a little butter or olive oil? I find adding a little of either, maybe 15g, will keep it moist for a day or so longer :)
I've stopped putting oil or butter in the dough, but I used to put a bit in all the time. It tastes different without it, so it depends what kind of baking mood I'm in :)

Some supermarkets get in frozen bread that is part baked and just bake it off

But as a former scratch baker for sainsburys TTD Multiseed / Tiger Bread is epic :P ofc depends where you go.

I love tiger bread. At uni I'm stuck with Hovis. I barely manage to get through that before it starts going stale.
