bf just broken down, does not have policy with anyone, wants to know which company is relatively cheap and is good. on the A40.

Call them and ask. The last is usually cheapest because IIRC they use local businesses and don't use all their own vehicles.

A couple of companies I think if you are a lone female driver will let you join and come out to you straight away, agreed not very useful for your boyfriend but it maybe worth knowing in the future.
