Heya peeps, just bought my first car which I pick up on Tuesday. However, was jus wondering what peoples' views are on breakdown cover n if there are any particular good deals anyone knows of out there? Cheers in advance :)

I have a private warranty with warranty direct and my covers in with that (full, with at home european and hotel cover) £200 but to think i had my gearbox oil seal go last year and a few other problems its paid for itself afew times over
:)

I signed up to the AA roadside assistance package the other day, if you look on Hotukdeals there is a deal where by if you take out the £31.80 package from The AA, then you go through Quidco.com you get £25.00 cash back to your quidco account, this works for all the packages, this means i paid £6.80 for a years breakdown cover :D .

Nice tip Tom, I might try that and theres no minimum payout so it looks fair to me. Ive used similar sites in the past but the best I saw was a tenner off green flag.

Ive used green flag in the past and they delegate to local companies but have always been prompt in turning up. Once they mixed up my details and gave me a full refund for the year even though they had turned up in 15mins anyway

My RAC renewal was a few days ago, they pricematched my £89 renewal fee with the £39.99 january-sale price on their website for new customers only.

You can't argue with that!

I've seen them called out 4 times as either a driver or passenger, and every time has been excellent service.

I've always been happy with the AA on the 2 occasions I've had to call them out.

Did you call them up to get the to price match & if so what did you say? Think my renewal is this month.

I rang up and said "My renewal says Solution 2 is £89, but your website is selling it for £39.99"... before i could even get to suggesting leaving and signing up as a new customer she just said "No problem sir, I'll just see if I can pricematch you to the lower rate... All done sir! Anything else?"

Didn't take any effort at all, I was very impressed.

Just taken out the Option 200 cover option with the AA at £67.88.

Minus £25 via Quidco (which was tracked within 5 mins) it was £42.88 for the whole year. :)

How do you pay thru quidco? I just registered with them but am not sure how to actually go about getting the cover from the AA site - am I missing something really simple here?

!

The cheapest one! which is RAC for me £25 through work. Paid for itself many times over too (Fix it again tommorow!). I can't fathom why some people don't have breakdown cover. Muppets!

Mini thread ressurection. Mine was renewed on the 17th because I forgot about this due to RL situations. Called them up today & was told that I was still in the period where they could do this so my card is being refunded & the £39.99 being taken out. Took 2 mins on the phone & all sorted, very good.
