Just me or seems to be really expensive compared to say 5 years ago?

I remember like £35 a year, now they want £100?

Any recommendations for breakdown cover? Was with green flag but they put it up by £20 for nothing so I've not bothered to renew. Ideally need to get myself and the wife on personal cover as we both have cars and drive each others plus I got a motorcycle.

Been looking into this recently too and prices are all over the place.

Depends on what cover you're after and what add ons you go for like home start etc.

Does any one know if personal cover will cover me for cars and motorbikes on the same policy?

I have a car for daily use but also own 2 motorbikes for the weekends. Looking on terms of policies it doesn't really mention motorbikes.

Remember to go through quidco/TCB, you can get half sometimes even more back of the policy price in cashback.

I paid £148.99 with RAC for both me and my partner, and that had £70 cashback.

On the flip side remember to check the price if you go direct, some companies bump the price up if you use a referral link so it's not the bargain it appears even with cashback.

Hmm would that even be legal? You surely can't sell the same item at different prices!

That's akin to Tesco charging a different price for an item depending on whether you walked into the shop from the front door, or a side door.

Insurance companies do it all the time with their renewals. My 54 year old mate just got his renewal through for his Kangoo 1.4 at just over £700. I got exactly the same thing for him for £168.on a comparison site.

35 quid ? what level of cover though I'm paying £98 with rac home start ,nationwide recovery for 2 quid a week roughly it's a good deal to be fair trained mechanic at my beck and call if the **** hits the fan.

Start Rescue is recommended by MSE. I have never had to use them, but their reviews are good and are like for like with most other more expensive providers.

Whaaaat? Companies do it all the time. Look at hotel comparison sites, each one has a different price and what about cookies? Oh you have visited here before, you MUST be interested, i'm going to put the price up £xxx.

Would not waste my money, would just ring them out if i need them, 20 years driving, never need one yet, all the ££££ i have saved by not having breakdown cover

I have it free with my bank, never had to use them (hopefully that hasn't jinxed it) but as both cars are under 3 years old they're still under manufacturer's warranty, Ford did say when I took my car for a service that they have enrolled me for free breakdown cover for 12 months (or 12,000 miles) but not sure if everyone does that.

I'm with Autoaid, had to call them out a few years ago when the wife's car broke down with my two young son's in the vehicle too. It was all very straight forward and hassle free.

They don't do roadside repairs, but will transport you to a garage or to your home (whichever you choose).
