Breaking Bad Season 4

Indeed, and that kill :!

Its shocked the hell out of me. I was like "OH MY GAWD WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON" lol.

It was so brutal as well. Really well done.

The pace and everything in ep 1 kept to same style as the other seasons. Which means, the action parts will be that much better.

I really don't know how this season will unfold. I can only imagine that Hank gets better and finds out who Walt really is.

I'm not expecting much from the first episode, as and when I watch it. I expect an established series to hold back somewhat in the first episode of a new season.

In the mean time I've been re-watching 'The Wire' box set (currently on the end of Season 4) and Dexter (Season 5 on FX) so I will be stacking Breaking Bad to watch later on.

Spoilers?

I thought the first episode was brilliant. It had everything I wanted. It was basically just an extension from the last episode... kinda like a two parter.

The end where Walt is walking away was great. He now knows he is in a world of **** and his family is probably at risk now. Walt has no escape. He can't run or they will go for his family.

I hope Hank gets better as he is too good to be wasted. I kinda want him to know who Walt is. I think thats the only way the series can go. I actually think Hank will end up killing Walt in the finale. Its the only way I can imagine this show ending.

I hope not! That is, I hope they don't take the whole 10-episode season to resolve Walt's current "dilemma".

*spoilers*

Its not just his dilemma though. Its Mike's, Saul's, Jesse's, and Hank's dilemma now. All Hank wants to do is find out who Heisenberg is, he is obsessed with it. Its the only thing that will get him through rehab. Mike probably knows what will happen if he screws up and Jesse knows he is the most expendable person in the group. If Walt does die of Cancer, whats the use for Jesse being alive? Jesse knows this.

Not to mention all of Skyler's snooping about. Its just a matter of time before she finds out where Walt works and ends up in trouble. If Skyler can figure out where Walt is, then it can't be hard for someone else to do the same thing.

Episode two changed everything. Walt really screwed up and Jesse has gone off the deep end.... and Mike knows his time could be up with this new guy coming in.

@Robert1986 I know, you're probably right, it's probably the calm before the storm, just stretching out the tension before it all hits the fan. This season's Kafkaesque. But it came too early in the season, and after a year's waiting and a pretty tense first episode I wanted some action to break the tension. They'll have me gnawing my nails down to the knuckles in suspense with all this suspense! :)

No way was this the fly episode. It had a lot of story init and plot progression. Why do people hate on Kafkaesque? Its one of my favorite episodes.

spoilers.

Mike probably knows when the time is right its either him or Gus. When he beat up Walt in the bar, it was probably just to let him know that he doesn't need him to do what he can do. Walt is more than capable of killing though.. He has so far killed 3 people.

Only thing I find weird is how Walt's finger prints have never been found on the gun he killed the two guys in "Half Measures". Also, what about the lab notes? Ep1 ended with a shot of the lab notes.

SPOOOOOOILERS

What's Hank's obsession with the crystals all about? Is he trying to find out where the blue in Walt's meth is from?

He is disabled because of Walt's meth. I'm guessing Hank's only reason to live now is to find out who Heisenberg is. Him buying up all the minerals is just a way to let us know how obsessed he is with it. Hank has to find out who Walt is in this episode... but when he does, its not like he can bust him. It would ruin him as a fed. How could he not know his brother in law is a cook?

We didn't actually see what happened with the gun at the end of Half Measure's as it ended with Walt telling Jesse to run. Can't remember if the next episode mentioned whether the Police had the gun did they?

I think I remember Mike saying he had to clean it up in full measure.

Season 4 Spoiler

Highlight (i dont know the right Colour/Font)

After watching episode 2 of season 4, i believe Mike must have killed Gus.

Not a chance. Theres no way they would do it that way. They would atleast show it.. and if he did, i doubt he would stick around... plus, he has kids that would be put in danger and I am pretty sure Gus has other hitmen working for him.

Plus, Mike gets paid by Gus. Its not like soneone like Mike can get another job.

Spoilers on episode 3

Pretty weak episode but we are finally getting close to Hank finding out everything now that he has the meth lab notes.

Walt and Sky now own the Car wash after an entire season talking about it. lol.

Jesse has lost and is no longer sane. Will probably end up do something stupid.

*SPOILER!!*

Pretty sure the dude in the car was the new guy who replaced Victor earlier in episode two?

Yup, he is the new Victor. Should see more of him in the next episode.

Would like to see more rival gangs in this series. There has to be some other Tony Montana out there that knows who Walt is and wants him to cook for them. You'd think Gus would have Walt kept alittle safer.

Gus doesn't sell locally though, he's a top-level supplier and his main competition was the cartel (and we know what happened to them).

He had those two guys selling on the street in their car, remember? Seems kinda weird though. They can't be making much selling on the street. Gus buys and sells in bulk.

Guess it was just a hook to make the story more interesting.

OH yeah, forgot about them! That's definitely an inconsistency then, as I remember Hank pointing at a map and saying the blue meth all disappeared from the immediate area soon after Gus bought Walt's whole supply.

Unless those guys only sold other drugs? But then why would they consider Combo competition?

I think they only killed Combo because he was selling on their turf.

Watched first 4 episode and its not captivated me like that last three seasons did, its going too slow compared to previous seasons

I felt the same way with season 3. I think season 4 has been excellent so far. It does drag in some parts but I am still loving it. I think the long dragged out scenes is some sort of mechanic to make other scenes seem more exciting.... its to bore you to hell then wham, dude gets whacked. :D

Any chemists in here? I'm very curious how accurate the science is... Is there a lot of fiction and technobabble?

Walt does go into great detail about cooking.

Was reading this.

Then read this and thought of the first episode of season 4.

The Chemistry Must Be Understood..

You’re not going to be able to safely make meth. period. Despite what you may have read on this forum or that, a cook can’t just “throw” their “ingredients” into a container and have a “half time joint” (as I’ve read). If they do they’ll most likely end up in one of the photos described above.

Wasn't just talking about the accuracy of the cook info though, other stuff too, like can you really get enough thermite from a single etch-a-sketch to burn through a thick door?

meh, some of it is a little far fetched. Remember the scene in season 1 where Walt is in Tuco's place and using that ake meth to blow up the place? The windows and smashed to bits but all eveyone got was a little stunned... and Walt being unphased by it even though he was the closest to the bang.

Heres the clip.

Yeah, that too, I always wondered whether it was feasible! :) I googled the name of the compound and it turns out others have been wondering too: http://chemistry.about.com/b/2008/03/05/mercury-fulminate-breaking-bad.htm
For anyone who can't be bothered to click through, yes, the thing is really that explosive, yes it can be synthesized in the home (though it's extremely dangerous, and even more dangerous to carry around in your pocket!), the only snag with the way it's used is that all the pics of it I've seen online were in powdered form. I have no idea whether it can be crystallized.
As for how was Walt unfazed by the explosion I guess it's not that huge a problem considering he was expecting it, and we can assume he threw it away from him. And he wouldn't be worried about mercury poisoning as he's already got lung cancer at that point! :p

But if the blast was strong enough to smash all the windows and knock out a few AC's which probably weigh a few hundred pounds, then yeah. Someone should have lost a limb. lol.
