I do kickboxing and this bank holiday the gym is closing for 4 days sat-tue. now normally i train 5 times a week + i go to the gym for weights sessions about 3x a week. however spying an opportunity with my kickboxing gym closing for a while i'm going to kick back and relax for a bit. I've taken tonight off and i'm obviously not going now until wednesday. Same goes for the standard gym. I'm dropping it for 5 days, going to give myself a break to allow those little niggling injuries to heal, enjoy the sunshine, have a few beers, eat some junk. basically i'm going to be a lazy sod for a few days.

so in order to make my gloating even semi thread worthy; don't you guys love it when you make yourself take a break and let loose with the food and booze for a while guilt free because you know you've earned it?

I always tell myself 'I've earnt it' if I have had a tough session at the gym - such as a chinese or something :D
Although lately the g/f and I have been cycling up to Zesto's (the best Ice-cream & shakes there is in the world) to make it a little bit more justifiable.

I have also just recently started to give myself a day off here and there - before it was near enough training every day of the wk whether it be weights or cardio.
Im enjoying it

5 times kickboxing and 3 times weights sounds like overtraining. I was reading an artical that said if u overtrain and feel tired and depressed then a week off would make u come back stronger. The artical was about how to overtrain on purpose. Im not sure if ** allowed to eat carp though.

not really overtraining. but yeah everyone is advised to take a break every few months or so. lets you go back fresh.

I'm just getting ready for Creamfields and believe me I'm going to be letting loose with the booze! and anything else that comes my way :) Haven't been in the gym since Wednesday and won't be back until next Friday.

Everyone needs to let their hair down, relax and have a break every now and again... it's good for the soul :D
